My rabbit had urine scald a week ago that gave my bunny a little cut right beside his scent glands down in that area. My question is i am treating it like the vet told me to. I am just wondering will the fur grow back or will it say bald?

Fur should grow back, I’m sure. Anything you do to the surface of the skin won’t change fur. you have to go into the hair folicle and kill it to remove hair (laser hair removal for instance) so I’m certian it will grow back.
However hair continously grows, and fur grows when shedding happens-the fur is shed when a new one is made. So shaving a pet with fur will take longer to grow in then someone who shaves their head. My parents husky was shaved last xmas for surgery and it’s still not in, a typical husky will take two years to fully regrow a full shaving But your bunny should fill in quicker

If I remember correctly and this is the disabled bunny, perhaps puppy pads and towels will be absorbant enough for you that scald won’t reoccur which I think is essnetial. When Chuck was ill, I did pee pads and towels over top and changed three to four times a day.

Yes, I also think it should grow back. My vet told me that the reason why some of the fur on Totoro isn’t going to grow back because he had bott flies in his neck and so that area was permanently damaged a little. My Bridge bunny was recovering from urine scald right before I adopted him and his fur did grow back.

Thanks so much. I have towels down and fake fleece. I use to use puppy pads underneath and some how kamdyn would always pull them up and chew holes in them. I also forgot to mention he did have poop on him as well. Kamdyn can’t reach back there sometimes to eat his night droppings. So he drops them to the floor then turns around to eat them which sometimes causes him to fall over. That is kamdyns disability he has a cancerous tumour on his spine which causes him to fall over sometimes. Thanks for the help
