It was probably September or October when I asked the vet if my bunnies were ready to get fixed. Anyways the male bunny was big enough but the female bunny wasnt..so i got the boy bunny neutered. Its been like 2-3 months and Im scared that my girl bunny might be too old to get spayed successfully. She is probably 7-10 month old.. Idk because my grandma got me the bunnies

No, it isn’t too late and the sooner the better for her since after 2 years she has a very high chance of having cancer develop.

My little girl Pepper is about 8 months old now. She will be going in January for the op. I’d do it sooner but we had 7 little accidents. Mr Piglet is done. By all accounts and my vet concurs, this is a good age to get them fixed. Most of the articles I have read say to get the boy done first and early and the girl about 12 months.

I believe any age under 2 or 3 is fine.

Eh, girls are recommended 6 months for spay, but it doesn’t hurt them to have it done later. Boys are recommended 4-6 months. (I had Powder done and he’s 4 years, Stickers was done at 6 months) – as long as they are in good health and not seniors they are OK.

Hi SB,  Wish I had my Pepper done at 6 months. It would have been easier on all of us. (The 7 babies are beautiful but even after they have homes I will stress and fret for them every day and worry they are not getting the kind of love and care they deserve)

I suspect my vet is trying to give me peace of mind but he does assure me that 12 months is OK (6 is better) but its never too late for a young bunny just as you said. My new Vet was excellent with Mr Piglet when he had his snip several week ago.

the rabbit group i volunteer with, as well as the humane society here, routinely gets rabbits spayed at all ages, from 5 months to 8 years. SO it’s never too late, unless she has health problems due to it, which can get to be higher risk as she ages. Sooner the better

Monkeybun is right– late is better than never unless she has health problems! Obviously male rabbits are different, but both of my boys were shelter rabbits and neutered well into adulthood. The sooner you get it done the better. : )

MB is right. I was expecting to read 8 years when you wrote 8 months. No problem at all. (So worth it, too.)
