I was just sitting with him in his pen when he started running/sliding back and forth making a noise, I thought something was wrong with him but then I realized he was running/stomping his foot and then he sat still and started stomping his foot and looking around scared.

I’ve never seen him freak out like this! Why would he do that??? He is indoors, not outside, and it was silent so I don’t get it!

It’s not unusual for your rabbit to hear or smell something you do not and be fearful. It’s hard to know why he would do it since they probably have better senses than us.

Sometimes rabbits will freak out for things we just don’t understand/realize. He’ll be okay though

How fast did he calm down?
It’s often a noise down the street, or some noise you would take for granted like a bird call or a dog in another yard that makes them warn you of danger. The running and thumping is usually an alarm. He was probably trying to protect you, too.

He didn’t calm down fast at all, he thumped his foot at least 7 times, I’ve only ever heard him do it once when we visited a new place. He kept running back and forth in front of me thumping then sat still and thumped looking around and I kept talking to him and trying to pet him but he was ignoring me. It was strange.
