My new bun Asha is 12 weeks old, she has been using her litter tray in her cage. But when she has a free run of her room. She seems to just do her business whereever. Not wees though! Only poos. The other day she jumped into a minature sized bin that holds all her food/ blankets/ litter/ newspaper and did actually wee and poo just sitting ontop of the bin. :/
Does anyone have any tips on how to get her to use her litter tray. I put it in her favorite corner and she does use it but does still do it where ever in the room.
I want to be able to bring her inside for ages without worring she will poo and wee all over our carpet and furniture.

        Any ideas!

with female bunnies it can be hard to get on top of when they are little. Desexing will generally fix this problem, she is just over 3 months old now and will be reaching the beginnings of puberty. My first post on BB 3 years ago was about my bunny at about 4 months old who liked to poo EVERYWHERE! lol my friend JerseyGirl mentioned to me that if the poos are particularly shiny, then she is marking her territory in certain areas of the house by scattering her poop there she will particularly do it in areas that smell “human” If the poops are scattered everywhere they will be territorial. If they are in a certain corner in the house then you could try putting a litter tray there for her to use.
Desexing will aid with this issue though Good luck

            Thankyou!!
Yes it’s everywhere. She still does it in her little corner and she is pretty good, just would love to bring her in longer than 15 minutes so she can use the litter tray inside rather than weeing and pooing in totally different parts of the house! So I don’t know wher to put the tray because she doesn’t even use it haha!
Shes still a doll and so cheeky!

Haha yes I saw they are funny. She doesn’t even look real! Ha. She does this trick now where she acts like a dog and runs around in circles almost as if she’s chasing her tail. So funny!!

:p Most us bunny owners have faced this particular problem at some point. Try not to let her have too much space too fast or she’ll get too big for her boots. Trust me!
The more space she has the more she feel like she has to mark the boundaries. At her age, just a pen or area of a room would be enough. She might mark it a lot initially then it should reduce some. Clean up for you is easier also in the smaller space. Just pop the territorial poos back into her litterbox.

Hmmm. At the moment she has the whole garage. But when my dog comes out (when we leave the house) they are both in the garage. This is when I either put her in a play pen ( somehow still sometimes manages to get out of) or back in her cage which is on a ledge type thing so the dog can not terrorise her. She loves her garage but she has particular spots where she loves to hide. I have had to put a play pen around one particular area she used to sit there for hours! (behind the pool filter) I didn’t think this was a great spot and it would always get hot and it’s a very small space. I would feel bad if
I enclosed part of her area as she loves!!!! To have her run around and binkies. I’ve had to put a large cardboard slate to block
Off the door to the pool and behind the fridge. (don’t trust her outside by the pool) although she has been caught jumpin over the box and just sitting on the lawn. The room isn’t huge but it is still pretty large, especially for such a little bunny. I’d feel she isn’t getting enough excerise if I blocked off half of the room. Do you think it would be mean and confuse her if I blocked it up now ?

Lol. They are so good at testing our rabbit-proofing efforts!
If it’s the garage you probably don’t have to limit the space so much. I agree, it’s nice to see them explore and binky about. It could be the dogs scent that has her marking a bit. If you’re not too worried about this space then just let it be. It’s just her age really. Sometimes that marking dies down a bit on its own. Sometimes they go through a teen phase where it worsens but then improves again.

In the house though you’d want to limit her roaming area at first as she might be more likely to mark on the furniture.

Mmmn thats right. Stu used to do that. When she was free range in the house she used to just mark the floor, but then she started marking our lounges and Carl wasnt impressed lol. We found that giving her a smaller area to call her own made it better for her, and then when we started letting her out free range, she would go back to that area.
When shes inside the house maybe just give her a small area. The garage is fine if thats hers, but the house is a new territory. Just let her have a small space there and increase it a bit every time. She should get used to going in one space.
