I don’t brush my bunny often because he doesn’t really shed much until lately, but when I brush him he gets so excited, so what should take 5-10 takes almost an hour! He will sit in front of me and let me brush for 3 seconds then pops up into the air and runs around me in circles doing binkies then sits back down in front of me and waits for me to start brushing again then does his happy dance again.

While it is ADORABLE, it makes brushing take FOREVER!

Try putting him on a table or on a washer/dryer. That way they can’t run around. That’s what I do and it works great.

I just sit Wooly in my lap. He usually doesn’t try bolting. Then again, the dog is usually blocking his only exit route.

For Wilbur, I put her on the bed so she can’t run around too much. Totoro is a pancake. He will stay still for anything.

I arrange a little spot on the table for grooming. They would never let me brush them any other way.

I Put Remmy in my lap on top of a towel. If he gets too excited, I raise my legs so the towel looks like a wall to him. If he still tries to escape, then I put my legs GENTLY against his sides so he can burrow his head.

Uh, I don’t. Haha. Both of mine haaaate to be brushed. Instead, I pet them with damp hands to get hair out and pluck the tufts on their bums with my fingers (they hate that too). Sometimes I can sneak in a few brushes while they’re eating, but not always. If they ever got really bad I would put them on the counter like I do for nail trims.

For Christmas I want to buy them a grooming mitt, so I can pet them and brush them at the same time (I’m hoping they don’t notice that it’s also a brush)

                      I don’t, hahaha.
I grab a towel, the bunny, and take her into the bathroom. I set the towel on my lap, grab the bunny, and pluck loose furs.

Bunny on bed with one hand putting very light pressure on the shoulders, no bolting and if they do jump it’s low enough they won’t hurt themselves.

I like to have a helper when I put them up on the counter – one person holds down the shoulders and keeps them from running forward or backwards while the other person does the nail trimming.

both of mine like it! When we adopted them their coats were pretty yucky – I think getting out all the matter urine stained fur felt really good – so now when they see the brush they hop up on me and await the grooming!

I plop them down on a towel on the bathroom counter. None of them have just run off the edge, bunnies are more cautious than that usually :p

Elrohwen, I too thought grooming mits would be the perfect answer – but alas, I’ve yet to happen on one that does the job. If you find one that effectively removes loose hair while you pet, please spread the word, I’m ever looking for one that is effective. Thanks! I have two different kinds/brands that essentially do nothing but rub over the animal.

with fluffers like yours, Lash, a grooming mitt wouldn’t work all that well. Gotta get into the fur with a brush.

Oh, no wonder it doesn’t work. Alas.

I don’t!! No one likes grooming in my house except for Mikey (dog)

Rupert, I give him treats while I pluck him-daily during high shed.
Kahlua-I shave her. We do a clip every two months. It’s quick-within 10 minutes and less pull-y then brushing so she is good, she goes on a towel in the bathroom and clipped fur clogs the toilet until Dave deals with it.
The guinea pigs get a bath and a scissor clip

I have every brush under the sun (furminator, zoom groom etc) and I don’t find any help except the comb with rubber (sold here) so I shave and pluck and clip during shedding. Let me tell you-there is animal hair in the fish tank during shedding season with two piggies, two bunnies and a dog

I try to pet his head/nose with one hand to calm him, while brushing him gently using my other hand. He doesn’t mind brushing, he would just prefer that I pet him instead. So I try to do both… it takes some coordination. Sometimes I could use an extra hand or two

If you put bunny on a table to groom, just make sure you don’t leave them unsupervised…even for a second. I stand right at the edge of the table so there’s no way they can jump off while I’m grooming.
