I saw a small scratch on Mocha’s eye lid just now and I was wondering if I should be concerned. Here is a pic. I used flash because it was dark in my room, I hope the light didn’t hurt his eye.

as you can see there is a red dot on his eye lid. It looks like it was bleeding and has now scabbed up. What do you guys think?

Hmmm well a little while back I took Totoro to the vet after he had a little blood in his tear duct area, the vet said it was just a scratch but he did give me some triple antibiotic cream just to be safe because it was really near the eye. I would say that your Mocha is probably fine though.

Ok, I will keep an eye on him.

I would just keep an eye on it for now. It doesn’t look too bad. Not nearly as bad as Wooly’s injury, but Wooly scratched his third eyelid not his outer eyelid.

Ditto-I’d keep a close eye for infection but that’s quite small. Perhaps try to look around his enviornment to ensure there isn’t something sharp that got in accidentily…hmmm like a nail in a baseboard…or a sharp peice on an NIC cube?

He also has brown discharge around his eye. his nails need to be clipped. I tried yesterday alone but couldn’t do it. He is too hard. I did clip all of Lulu’s nails by myself for the first time! I was so proud of myself. I will look around the cage. maybe it was a zip tie or something.

If their eye is irritated, then there will be some discharge. If it doesn’t stop after a couple days then you might want to have it checked.
