I'm finding it hard to keep up too! I try to steal a bit of time while I'm at work, but I've been so busy lately that it's hard to get more than a half hour. One of my co-workers quit and I'm taking on most of his stuff. I already had a lot of things going on and now I have quite a bit more, so it's stressful. It's not even the extra work that's bad, but the fact that his processes are a complete mess - every time I look I find stuff that is inconsistent or doesn't make sense and then I have to figure out what to do about it. It's going to be a lot of work to get everything running smoothly and then I still have big projects on my other stuff. Oh well. We're getting a new guy in March, so I should be able to unload some of this stuff then. With so much going on at work, I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas! I have a lot of vacation time left so I'm taking off at least whole weeks for each. I'm going to my parents' house for Thanksgiving, then Christmas is at my house with my parents, DH's mom, and DH's sister. Oh, my other big news is that we're on our way to getting a puppy! I finally found a breeder I really love for Welsh Springer Spaniels. Yay! The puppies should be born around April, so we have a lot of time to wait, but I'm glad things are moving. |

Okay, so I was stupid and put my email address in on one of those family history websites. It said you needed to register for a free account. I put my name and email address in and clicked next and then it wanted your credit card info. Grrrr... now I keep getting emails from them telling me to finish "registering" so I can see my "results". |

If you scroll to the bottom of the emails you should be able to "unsubscribe" from the notices. |

Yeah, I found it. Still annoying though. I don't understand why those places charge so much money anyway. Oh well, they wouldn't have the information I'm looking for anyway. I looked up public records in my county on the county's website but that didn't have what I wanted either. Must be a different county. |

When I signed up for Ancestry I did have to give my credit card information, but I was able to cancel my membership before they started charging me for it and I haven't had any issues. It is annoying to give out your card information though - it always makes me a bit uncomfortable if I'm not actually intending to buy something. I would rather they give the free trial and then cut you off unless you pay after a few weeks, but I understand that more people are likely to pay if their information is already entered. |

So many good games coming out this month. I joked on twitter that "I'm going to be in my room playing games, and getting pale!!!" I play Call of Duty online with my boyfriend, one of my coworkers, and angie-la. I'm super excited for Modern Warfare 3. I would pick it up at Midnight (my job is having a launch party) but I'll just get it the next day, since I don't work until 3 that day Playing online with a bunch of guys is funny. If I am playing online with my coworker, I use my bluetooth (as well as him) and it is funny because guys online will say "IS THAT A GIRL ON OUR TEAM??" and they look at the leaderboard and say "SHE'S DOING DAMN GOOD TOO!" hahhaa its hilarous. I'm glad some people are for girls kicking butt ;D My coworker says "You're so nice at work, but online you're so angry!!!" What can I say, people online do stupid things? Some of my friends have boyfriends or fiances that game a lot and they get mad at them.. well, I guess I understand how it is to love a game so much |

@LoveChaCha I also enjoy playing video games (but I'm really terrible at them unless they involve Mario... and even then the little plumber bites the dust often). My fiance isn't a huge gamer but he does enjoy playing COD and NHL and I find that rather than get angry at him it's a lot more fun (and easier on our relationship) if I just join in every once in awhile. I'm also an avid reader, I can sit down with a book and ignore the world for 6 hours straight without batting an eye so I always try to remember that while he may like video games I also have things that take can take up a ton of my time if I let them. Currently he is playing a game called Deus Ex (sp?), I think it's hilarious because your character can negotiate his way into buildings or getting help or he can be forceful, my fiance is always wanting to negotiate and talk to the people 10 different times to get his way whereas I'm like "Just break down the door, shoot the guard and go in!!"... not very lady like. |

Britt, what platform do you guys play on? DH is huge into Call of Duty and Halo (and recently Battlefield 3) on the Xbox. He'd love to play with you guys if you play on Xbox. I like some games, but I'm picky. I'm super excited that Zelda is coming out (we never use our Wii anymore, so it'll be nice to feel like we're getting to use it). I like other open ended sandbox type games like the GTA series and Red Dead Redemption (best game ever, in my opinion). I do sometimes play Halo with DH - we've done all of the campaigns in co-op mode and now we play Firefight mode together. I suck though, so I would never want to play online. I'm at about the same skill level as a grunt - maybe a jackal on a good day :-P |

Princess*Smudge, your post was hilarious. I do the same thing as you when DH is playing - I go off into the library and read a book, or sometimes watch cheesy reality shows on my laptop that DH hates. We usually spend every weekend morning this way. I'm also terrible, but I do enjoy playing once in a while and there are some games I really enjoy (though I'm still so bad that DH has do take over for the hard parts). I also had to laugh at your description of Deus Ex - I'm always the negotiator and I think DH would be the "shoot the door down!" type. |

I get my husband COD every year, I don't mind him playing and usually play with him. I can understand the whiney girlfriends though, because its easy to get absorbed into that game and as adults we have other responsibilities I do the same with my books too, but they are easier to put down than a game that charts your wins and losses and stuff. |

We're big gamers over here. We play COD on xbox. Lately I've been playing Gears of War every night before bed with my husband. We also play StarCraft2 as our PC game. We have Guitar Hero for xbox and a lot of stuff on the wii for our girls. I'm getting ready for my husband to go to Canada. I don't know what I'm going to do without him. I've never been away from him over night since we got married 8 & 1/2 years ago! He's leaving next Thursday for 4 days to visit his Great Grandma. She's very sick and fading fast. He wants to see her one last time since they don't think she'll make it till Christmas. |

Glad to know I'm not the only girl gamer on here. Really big into WOW, although I still consider myself a noob because I've only played it for a little over a year and almost everyone on there has played like at least 5 years lol. All my friends make fun of me for it (in good spirits of course) |

My husband plays a lot of video games, but not online ones. He was playing the God of War games, the Bioshock games, Portal 2, etc. He has gotten through all of them now and I haven't bought him anymore recently so he hasn't been playing anything. He said something about the new Batman game since it got a good review, so I guess we'll see. I used to be pretty good at video games, but we're talking the days of Nintendo and Sega Genesis. It was the only way to get my brother to do anything with me. Otherwise, I have a DS right now that I play every once in awhile. I have stuff like Big Brain Academy and Cooking Mama for it. =X |

Hahaha, love that picture! I agree, it's crazy that 2011 is almost over... Cold weather is finally hitting us here (cold meaning <50 by Texas terms)...I was in the library studying for a few hours on Wednesday evening and the temperature was about 20 degrees colder when I left than when I went in. I hadn't realized there was a cold front coming in at all, and had to run home freezing! |

Bumping this up!! Customers are in the store.. coughing, sneezing, wiping their noses. And now I have it. Great. I've seen 2 people - one coughed without covering, and one sneezed on the PIN PAD... Ew, seriously? I'm off today, and I'm thinking about taking the day off from work tomorrow. i only have a 5 hour shift, but I'm still feeling crappy, and I can't hear very well. To answer everyones question - I game online with my PS3. Call of Duty is rather addicting, haha. Time goes by so fast when I play that game, but its super fun when there are people you know that play along I'm going to miss my Kiparis and AUG with flamethrower on Black Ops *sniff* Cooking Mama 4 is going to be on 3DS.. don't even get me started on 3D things.. |

i ended up dropping all my classes at the community college in fall '94 because of Final Fantasy 3 for super-nintendo. kinda lost interest in gaming after the ps1 era with the exception of a few ps2/wii titles: silent hill, katamari, rabbids ive seen what the online gaming has turned my little brother into... :/ |

Well.....I'm a huge dork and only play the Sims 2. lol What makes me an even bigger dork is that I really do get mad at the stupid Sims sometimes. LOL Obviously I'm not big into gaming, but sometimes I do wish I had a good kick butt/kill everyone game to play. Especially these past couple of days as I got reamed out by a coworker. But I don't have anything buy my computer. Now to make me sound completely psycho, my cousin and his wife are coming to my aunt's to do some shooting so that's what I'm doing tomorrow - REAL target practice. LOL Lately I have been all the seasons of Waking the Dead which is a British crime drama tv show. So I just looked at the clock and it's 3am. Oopps. Oh well. haha Nothing else major going on. I am now letting Lolli out of her pen in her room. I close the door and watch Waking the Dead on my computer while she hops around and randomly comes up to nose bump me. Really she's just looking for food. LOL |

I usually play on my PC, theres only a few things I use the xbox for regularly. most of my shooter types are on PC, as I'm better aiming with a mouse than the controller |

The costume rush is over at Jo Ann, now we are entering Christmas and fleece season. Today alone I think our store sold a record amount of fleece. Mostly for the "no-sew" or "rag edge" or "tie off" blankets. Whatever you want to cut them. Now at a busy store like ours, we literally cut 100's of pieces of fabric a day, our scissors have not been replaced in probably 7 years, and the little metal ruts in the table that we run the scissors down to get a straight cut have dings in them that our scissors snag on and it shows in the cut. Yes we do have a professional sharpener who comes in a couple times a month to sharpen the scissors, yes we do have someone who comes in a couple times a month to smooth the ruts. But guess what, after one day that has all gone to heck. We have scissor sharpeners for our use behind the counter, but they don't help. So it is 100% impossible to get a customer a perfectly straight like like you would get with a straight edge and rotary blade. It is just not going to happen ever. That is what allowances are for. Also, if you are doing a no sew blanket guess what? Your fabric can be mis-matched by like 2" each direction and it WILL NOT MATTER! Also, fabric comes to us from time to time with a smudge on it. Guess what? THAT IS WHY YOU WASH IT BEFORE YOU USE IT! That or you know, put the imperfect side on the inside of the blanket where it will never be seen. I am not saying you should settle for ridiculously uneven fabric, or something with a huge stain on it, but some of our customers are so picky it is going to make this happen to me I swear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxCPCteWZqw In other news, I have finally gotten around to playing Heavy Rain. My husband has made me an achievement/trophy slave and I am trying to unlock all of them. I also need to finish getting all of my achievements in Fallout. By the way that is not a rant, I am just making a statement to potential Jo Ann customers. |

tomorrow we're donating 30 sets of 'bun-chuks" (my own creation) to the buns at http://www.tranquilitytrail.org they're made out of 4 fisher price links and the thick cardboard tube from a 12" wide roll of bubblewrap cut in half. good for a few months of gnawing and tossing before they need to be replaced.
