Some say it’s ok, some say it’s not – the veggie list on this site says it’s generally accepted like with broccoli but can cause issues. The local store here stopped carrying all greens except romaine and cabbage for now until more comes into season… and I ran out of their greens today and won’t be back to the other town (40 miles to get to any other grocery store, ugh) until the weekend. Should I try introducing cabbage, or just feed them romaine for a few days and up pellets?

My neighbor next door has had rabbits for many years , she told me when I adopted my first bunny that the first rabbit she owned had a case of G.I. stasis and she suspects it was from introducing cabbage to his diet (she didn’t know much about rabbits at the time).

It varies per bun, you can try a tiny bit and see how he does. keep the cabbage portion small for at least a week to see.

It definitely depends on the bunny. Because cabbage is known to cause gas, and gas can be a serious issue in bunnies, that is why cabbage is more on the avoid list. But not all bunnies react to gas producing veggies. I can feed a little bit of broccoli without a problem, but for me, I am too worried to give more — hard for me to chance it when I have so many other types of greens to give.
