Miss Lola loves to shred newspaper and the phonebook… and I like to throw the phonebook into the pen to deter her from chewing other things she shouldn’t be chewing! This weekend while she was flopped over, I noticed her little paws and feetsies are gray/black from all the ink!! (She’s white BTW). Is there anyway to clean them or should I just let her clean them herself? Now i’m sad because I want to take away the phonebook and newpapers…

Newspapers etc use soy based ink, which when it gets wet at all will run and stain anything it comes into contact with. It’s not toxic though, so it should be fine to let her clean it herself. I wouldn’t take away her toys, but maybe if you try to keep it in a contained area away from water it might not run the ink so much?

It’s nowhere near her waterbowl… but just likes to dig and dig at the phonebook so I guess the continuous rubbing gets the ink on her little paws D:
