I have 8 year old Biscuit, who is a bit underweight according to the vet … he’s a X lionhead, so isn’t meant to be a huge rabbit anyway, but i’d still like him to be a bit chunkier I just made him about a table spoon full of oats, mixed with a handful of his mature rabbit nuggets, some chopped up apple and some boiling water. Waited for it to cool down a bit, and then tried him with some on a spoon …

        HE LOVES IT!

The problem with the little guy is he randomly goes off his food and doesn’t eat (not helpful when you’re trying to get him to put on weight) he recently had a dental so i know his teeth are okay, i think he’s just a lazy old man

Just wanted to check with you guys that feeding him a spoonfull of porridge oats is okay mixed with his food? Cheers!

It sounds OK to me. It sounds like the recipe for bunny cookies before they’re cooked. You might want to try baking it into a cookie, so he can chew it as well. It would be good for his teeth, and he would chew down the ingredients, breaking them up, rather than being a massive goo. But I don’t think it will hurt him, especially if he likes it.

Okay thanks Yeah, he doesnt eat ANY hay at all, or any grass, so anything that i can persuade him to crunch up is a bit of a god send!

If he doesn’t eat hay, then grind it into the cookie mix as well. If you do a search here, you should be able to find several posts with good cookie recipes to try. And if he doesn’t eat hay but likes treats, try the treats like Timothy and Veggie Treats in the BB store. They use hay in their ingredients so it gets some into his system.

Yeahh i’ve tried that too, but if the bits are any bigger than invisible he just picks them out! He’s such a picky little guy I did look in the BB store, but you don’t post to the UK do you?
