I have started to let the bun buns out into the halway outside my room and into the living room for a few hours a day. The problem is, we have five cats. I have been working with our youngest cat to stay calm around the bunnies and that is going well, but the cats keep going in the bunny room! I would be fine with it except they start drinking there water and the bunnies get a little territorial over ” thier” room.

So what I am asking is.

How can I block the cats from going into my room with out blocking the bunnies out?

What I’m wondering is whether you can just shut the bunnies’ room completely with a second litter box out in the hallway for their use, so they can play and run but keep the cats out of their space. Do they really feel comfortable around all 5 cats? Are the cats allowed outdoors? You could also let the cats out for an hour or 2 while the bunnies are loose in the house.

I only had 3 cats when I first starting having bunnies, but I found the buns laid down the law. They would tolerate a bit of investigating but when they charged the cats, the cats ran for their lives. Now they’re content to sit outside the NIC bunny fence and just watch.

I have a xpen up so that not all the cats can come in, but I let one or two in at a time. I could just shut my door, but I would like them to be able to run home if they are scared.
