A while ago my dad sprayed herbicide in out garden. He avoided the strawberry plants and he said he is almost positive he did not spray the mint with it. If he didn’t spray it is it still ok to feed to the bunnies?

The herbicide is made to kill the weeds ( we had HORRIBLE weeds in our garden this year, no matter how much we weeded they came back, and because of them nothing in our garden grew.) also after 2 weeks after you spray it, it disappears so that you can plant again. I think it is ok to feed the mint since he didn’t spray it, but I wanted your guys opinion.

        Thanks!

They sell washes that are supposed to completely wash off all pesticides and herbicides that come in contact with vegetables. I’ve never actually used them so I can’t speak for how well they work. I do know though, that unless you buy organic, the vegetables you are already feeding yourself and your rabbits have more than likely come into contact with sprays also. I would say you’re probably ok as long as you wash them very, very thoroughly just in case it did come into contact with what your dad sprayed.

The washes get a % of it off, but I don’t know any that get all of it. Use a vegetable wash on it though and make sure you clean it thoroughly and I would think it’s OK if he didn’t spray it.

If the herbicide did touch it it would be dead The thing is since it is fall its a little bit brown on the top but the bottom is still green so I am pretty sure its ok. I am not going to feed it to them fresh, I am planing on drying them as a treat so if I washed them would they still dry?

oh, And I don’t buy organic veggies for them to eat in the store and they are fine. I never wash them in a special vegetable wash.

Most people don’t. I usually buy organic but even when I don’t I never wash them in anything special and we haven’t died yet I think it’s pretty safe to say that it would be fine to feed them the mint, dried or fresh
