So I found a vet to spay my bun, but its not in my town, its two hours away.  My parents live in the town that the vet is at so that is a definitely good thing.  So I am thinking, I could travel on a friday, so that she can become comfortable with my parents house and start to relax, and schedule for her spay on a monday.  It is like a 30 minute drive from my parents house to the vet.  Is this too much stress for her?

Absolutely! and I think she will be great Traveling *is* stressful on bunnies tho, and some more so than others. I think it’s a great idea what you are doing. I mean, I was about to travel 6 hours away for Noms’ spay, but I found a rabbit savvy vet only 30 min away. Most of the rabbits who get spayed at our local rabbit rescue, get spayed as a group in Pittsburgh which is about 2 hours away. So I think bun will be fine!

I think there’s a doubly good advantage to it because you can get her to know your parents and their house, then have a nice place ready for her to get a good spay. Will you be able to stay there with her for a day or so afterward? I would encourage you to either take her home from the vet directly with all her gear ready or to let her rest at your folk’s overnight or another day before traveling. (Preferred.) She will want to rest more after the spay, and can’t jump or go on levels, so her set up can be fairly confined, like in a smaller cage at their place, without being a problem right after the procedure. It would be better to be near the vet to make sure she’s recovering as planned the next day after release.

Wow Nova, 6 hours? That is intense!!

Thats a good idea Rabbit Pam. Luckily, they just moved into their house not too long ago so some rooms arent completely used, so she may have an empty room to herself for a full recuperation. I can set of a little “nursing” station there!
