Any lionhead owners out there?  I was wondering when do the lionheads lose there fluffy coat.  Blossom is pretty much fluffy all over.  She is 11 weeks old and i noticed whlle brushing her that she has some short hair going down her spine when i move her fluffy hair.  At what age do they lose all the fluff. Thanks Mindy

Blosson is most likely a Lionhead mix, I’d guess with an angora. Because of that she’ll probably keep a good amount of fluff, but there’s really no way to tell without knowing her parents One of the main reasons lionheads are “true” breeds is because there isn’t a breed standard, and they are having a problem with keeping the manes into adulthood.
Basically, once she’s about 6-8 months she should have her main coat

ok thanks. Thats what I thought around 6 months old I should know her true coat and color. So do rabbits change colors as they get older. I know my puppy was a orange when he was a puppy but as and adult his fur was more cream color.. Can you tell im a new bunny owner!!

Wooly is a jersey wooly. I think he didn’t take on his final adult appearance until he was 9 or 10 months old. His baby coat was much darker (black), but as the longer hairs grew in he started to take on a smokey grey color. His undercoat is still black though so when his hair got cut off he looked black again.

Hodari is almost eleven months old and she is still undergoing changes in appearance. It was around six months, though, when she began to get a more resilient, less soft hair growing in on part of her face and her back. However, her mane is still growing and is still exquisitely soft.

Yep, he’s a cutie. I was pretty surprised with how his coat turned out. I figured he would stay darker, but I guess it’s just the “guard” hairs since he’s still black underneath.
