we’re moving to Germany and i need to know  if a rabbit can really go on a air plane.my older sister did a ton of research on rabbits about 8 years ago ,so it might be different now ,but she said that my rabbit may die in the air from the altitude  change plus we will be living at a different height then where we live now,so i don’t know if i should re-home her or if i can bring her

You would need to check with different airlines as to what they require for animal transport, but there are a couple that allow bunnies in the cabin.

She should be fine. Many people have flown with rabbits just fine.

it shouldn’t be that much of a difference, people move to various places and altitudes with pets all the time, me included.

One thing you will need to check is if you are required to vaccinate her for anything to bring her into Germany. I thought I read somewhere that you cannot bring a rabbit back into the US if vaccinated against certain things. So check out the customs laws for entering/exiting both Germany and the US. Assuming you are in the US now.

It would be just awful if you found you had no trouble taking her with you, only to find out you couldn’t bring her home again.

Rabbits are shipped via airplane all the time, in the cargo compartment it is risky due to it not being temperature controlled etc, but in the cabin they should be fine. She may freak out a little bit as the plane takes off, since you can feel the change and it will be weird for her, but she should get used to it. Be sure to book really early for her though as most allow only a few animals at all in the cabin and you want to reserve her spot. Also, you will probably need a lot of health certificates for the move, so make sure you have all that paperwork.
