My rabbit Biscuit who is 8 has gone CRAZY! He lives in my room in a sort of NIC setup, but the door of it is open 24/7 so he can wander in and out whenever he pleases, so it’s not like he’s shut in …

but he’s gone crazy!!! the last few nights waking me up at 6 RACING around the room like something’s chasing him, just randomly going crazy and being destructive!

is it just a phase, or are his marbles well and truly lost?

I suppose it’s nice to see an older rabbit being active, but 6am….?! lol

Refresh my memory, was it Biscuit that had a dental done a few months ago?

WOW When I’m that age (you know in people years-haha I’m much older than 8 ) I hope I can run around at six am!!!

Truly though-think hard-has anything changed? Windows open, new neighbor, different food, seeing a dog during the day-anything at all? I might have a health exam just to be certain-since it is a change. But that sounds super fantastic for an 8 year old to be so spunky! Once he’s cleared for health you could try what I did with my ‘night partying bunny’-turn the radio/tv on during the day, with lights on, and at bed time, lights out. The noise/lights tire them out and they sleep at night very nicely

jerseygirl yeah it was Biscuit who had a dental done a few months ago … he was dopey for about 10 minutes and then back to his usual insane self! This morning, at 7am (i only got home at 1!) he decided to jump INTO my bin, and drag out of it a few empty cardboard packets. Needless to say, i had to get up and pet him, it was too cute
Nibblette sounds like a right little mischevious rabbit!
And absolutely NOTHING has changed to be honest though, i’d rather he’s all bouncy and hyper than old and sad!!
                Thanks guys x

I’d say if you can’t find a cause, like some neighbor leaving for work down the street at the same time that wakes him, then it sounds like he’s just feeling good. My bunny got disabled back legs at 8, so it’s wonderful to hear about someone so healthy. Since dawn and dusk are their active times, I would urge you to pet him, roll over and go back to sleep, and let him play while he’s able.

If he starts becoming crazy destructive with his teeth it might be another time for a dental check.

He could be reacting to a change in the season too. I agree with the others, it’s lovely to hear about an older bun being so active.

                      Nose rubs!

                        Aww, your poor disabled bun!
Yeah i’m so glad that he’s still so healthy and active, he’s acting like a 2 year old!
He’s not being destructive with his teeth as such, just RACING round the room and rolling about, seemingly in extreme happiness
Well, as you’ve all said, i’m just happy that my little guy’s still so active!
                        Thanks all xxx
