Ok, so Loki is, evidently, hitting the hormonal stage – he keeps humping our legs, mostly my partner, but I digress. Is there any way, excluding having him ‘done’, to prevent this behaviour?

        Thanks, guys.

Nope. Time for the big snip.

I’ve never had a bunny before, is this a dominance thing, of is he just ‘acting on instinct?’

My partner is pretty much dead-against having him done, as well. :-/

              It’s “bunny love”…

Be aware that humping in intact males usually progresses to spraying the object (in this case, your partner’s leg) with urine. I’ll bet after that happens a few times, your partner will be all for neutering. Lol…

                It’s hormonal.

Why is your partner dead set against neutering?

She would just like to leave him ‘in tact,’ unless it was completely necessary. Though, if he is going to spray her, I don’t think that it will be such a problem .

Yours is a giant rabbit, right? Neutering is also going to help cut down on destructive behavior and improve litter habits, which is going to be especially important with a giant rabbit who will likely be free roam the majority of the time.

Yeah, he’s a giant conti. Curiously enough, he has started dropping poops on the sofa – rather annoying, to behonest. I take it that this breaking of toilet training is him marking his territory?

Just noticed that I have posted in the wrong area, sorry.

Yes exactly, couches and beds are favorites to mark because the fabric retains your scent the most.

Not a problem, I can move it over to the behavior section.

Sounds like he will keep doing what hes doing unless hes fixed.. something needs to convince the partner to agree to get this done..

I don’t know if you have seen our “Bunny Gone Nutty” Page https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/Bun…fault.aspx

It addresses alot of what you are going through and offers some solutions to the behaviors you are dealing with.  (even while you are waiting to get your bunny neutered)

Hi, everyone, thank you all for the information and suggestions. We have decided that he needs to be done, as this seems to be the only way that pooping and humping will be resolved.
Thank you for the link, BB, it was amusing to read the ‘stunt-double’ part of the article, lol. That was one of the few things that we hadn’t tried . I think that we shall try that, as you said, while we are waiting for him to be done .

You are welcome —  When you do get a “stunt double” toy bunny. be sure to get one that is not made of little bean bag like materia inside.  Also, when you pick out a toy bunny, be sure the fibers don’t come out very easily when you pull on the fur.   It’s normal for a little, but some toys can shed. I normally get a washable toy, wash it to get any excess fibers off.  Then, to have the best success you should get your human scent on it so your bunny will take to that even if you are around.  It sounds goofy but you or your girlfriend just need to hang out with the toy bunny either sleeping or while watching TV….or you can put piece of clothing you have worn on it (that you don’t care to wear again as your bunny will most likely chew holes in it during the courtship etc.)

I would also avoid a toy with button eyes. If it has button eyes, snip them off.

Hey, BB. It never occurred to me, that making it smell like us would help.

Hey, becka. That is a good idea, he would likely chew them off, which he could then swallow. May have to get a durable teddy, as he can’t be done till his skin condition has cleared up.

He has been much, much better the last two days. He has just been laid on the sofa, next or on me, watching my new lost box-set. Lol

Have you posted recent pics of him? He does sound like a sweet boy, humping aside.

No, not any from the last couple of weeks. I have some on my mobile that I wish to upload, though I shall need to crop them, etc. before I upload them. He is very sweet, Before we got him, I had no idea that a rabbit could be as friendly and cuddly . But, yeah, all humping aside. His new trick, though, is thumping when I put him in his rabbit-digs, lol.
