So my new bunny Roscoe is set up in a 5′ diameter pen with a litterbox in one corner and a towel for digging in the other, and he loves to sleep on his towel — but he also poops there, probably just as much as he does in his litterbox. Any way I can train him out of this??

Hello and welcome! You’re probably going to have to take the towel out until he’s fully litter trained

Should I put another litterbox in that space? Or just leave the space empty?

If that’s where he’s pooping, it wouldn’t hurt to put another box there.

You can also put all the poops into the litter box, wash the towel to get rid of the smell, and try it in his cage again one more time. As soon as you see the poos, put them in the litter box. He may learn that one is for pooing and one is for sleeping. If not, then removing the towel will help.

My bun also had to have a two litter boxes in his space until he got the hang of it. then he hit puberty and now he still poos where he sleeps sometimes but its way less than his litter box and I correct him just by moving the poos into the litter box and he usually gets the hint.. He also couldn’t have a free corner in his space until he was litter box trained. he was quite resilient.
