We had our first human baby in late June. My husband went out of town for 8 weeks, leaving me with alone with our new son. Taking care of him solo left little time for me to play with our 4 year old bunny. In the past month, he has peed on MY side of the bed 4 times! He’s always good with his litterbox, he’s doing this out of spite. I’m at my wits end with his naughty behavior. I try to pet him but he hops away, and ignores me. we used to be so close, how do I get my sweet rabbit back?

Patience. If you can, just spend time with him. I finally got Lolli to start coming up to me by laying on the floor and letting her come to me. I “ignored” her by reading or watching tv. As you know, rabbits can’t handle being ignored. LOL But you do need to let him know that peeing on your bed is NOT ok and you do that by removing him/blocking him from the bedroom. But you just need to try to spend some time with him and he’ll come back around.

Just a thought. You might want to take your bunny in to be checked. Changes in toilet habits can be indication of a UTI. Aside from peeing on the bed, does he continue to use his litterbox or have accidents outside the box? A UTI is just a consideration.

Definitely not a UTI, hes still pooping and peeing in his litterbox, but now that my hubby is gone he pees right where I lay in bed, in the same spot each time. I know he’s mad at me, ever since I brought the baby home he’s been ignoring me. He’ll come to my husband still, but not me.

I know it is a bit different, but my Siamese had the same issues as your bunny when we had our youngest. He was mifffed that Mom was spending so much time and energy on the new one, and he was aloof and sometimes downright mean to me. He still loved all over my husband. He was okay with the older two kids, but seemed to hate me and the baby. He did come around by the baby’s six month mark or so, because I was consistent with him. He is very strong willed, with a huge ego, and the baby cut into his attention. He ended up coming in one day and curling up with us for a nap one day, and we were suddenly okay. I just made an effort to love on him as much as possible, and give him extra treats and play sessions when I could. I know it wasn’t as much as what he was used to, and he was upset. But eventually he came around….They do adjust, it is just slow.
