Dopey was one of my older ferrets who became adrenal not long ago. He was being treated with medication but wasn’t responding to it at all and had surgery about a month ago but he still wasn’t getting better. He lost all the hair on his tail and lost a lot of weight but he was still full of life. Last night he became lethargic wouldn’t eat and didn’t want to play he just wanted to snuggle up to me and sleep. I had plans to take him to the vet but when I got up this morning he was gone.

Smokie my oldest ferret was very protective of him he wouldn’t let me remove the body he was wrapped around him in their favorite sleeping spot. It took a pair of work gloves and 20 minutes to get him out of the cage.

Dopey is now buried in his favorite spot in my back yard.

He was an amazing ferret and loved giving kisses and sleeping under my hair.

This is my favorite picture this is before he got sick he was very much a camera hog if the camera was out just turn around and he was standing there waiting for his picture to be taken.

Oh Sonn, I’m so sorry to see this. Dopey sounds like an amazing companion. It’s odd how they either come to us in those last hours or sometimes they’d rather seclude themselves. I’m glad he chose to be close to you to say farewell.
My son has wanted a ferret for most of his life, but with all the other pets we’ve had, it just didn’t seem fair to bring one home. They are animals who seem to need more interaction than we knew he could provide.

Bless Dopey, whole and healed again at the Bridge. ((((((((((((((((((hugs to you, Sonn))))))))))))))))))))))

Thank you. He was very special and always came running to the nearest person when he was hurt or didn’t feel well.

Hugs and sympathy for your loss. I am sure that Dopey knew exactly how much he was loved and how much he is missed. Thank you for sharing, and I could be wrong, but any pet crossing the Rainbow Bridge can get a mention here. May peace come for you and yours soon…
