Ahhh! While trimming my bunny’s nails, I noticed that he had a patch of fur loss occuring on one of his back legs. Could they be mites or a cut of some sort? I think it hurts him (I touched it and he ran away). I often clean his play pen and let him out and about my room so I don’t really know what happened here.. eek. I forgot to mention: he’s been eating, pooping, drinking water like normal. I know if he’s acting weird since we’ve been through it before when he had G.I. Stasis. Any input?

Sorry for the crappy cellphone photos I’ve attached in this post. I’ll be taking him to the vet on Tuesday… I’m just a little worried for him & on a college budget, so hopefully it isn’t something too serious.

It’s hard to tell what that could be from the pictures. As I was reading your text before I saw the photos, I wondered if it could be urine burn since you said it was a bald patch on a back leg, but that would look different from these photos. I wonder if he has just worn the fur away by rubbing against some abrasive surface? Is the skin smooth looking or could it be a wart or other skin growth? I can’t tell if the skin is broken or scabbed over or not. It looks like a small place, but it’s good that you are taking him to the vet. Hopefully it is something very minor which can be healed quickly.

Actually those pix are pretty good. I would email them to your vet and ask her if she thinks it’s something to be concerned about and needs treating or if it’s just going to heal on its own.

Might dab a bit of Neosporin (basic kind) on each for a few days if your vet thinks it’s not to worry about to prevent infection and hasten healing.

Thank you for your input, tobyluv + RabbitPam. I wish I had time to email the vet earlier but I already booked an appointment for him during one of my classes tomorrow..ick. Hopefully he’s alright though, I will definitely update

I guess the bun had a cut from weeks ago that just healed (that’s what the vet thinks) and the fur is just regrowing. Can’t believe I didn’t notice it earlier. AH! At least he’s okay.

That’s good news–I’m glad that your bunny is okay!
