What are they feeding you?! Okay, so not really a smelly bunny, but I have noticed within a day of cleaning out litter boxes, they start to smell. I know urine, generally, has a distinct smell but this seems make the room smell like it. Is stinky urine common? From orange pee, to too many cecals, to bunnies gone bad … I am getting more gray hair by the hour!

What kind of litter do you use? Some of the less absorbent paper-based litters don’t really mask the urine smell. It could also be some of the veggies or possibly infection. The bun is spay/neutered, right?

I agree that the right litter makes a huge difference. I’ve had the best odor control with the pelleted wood litters.

It could also be territorial smells – with the new bunny in the house, the other two could be leaving territorial poos and just emitting the smell in general.

We are using wood pellets. I am think it is territorial smells. That would make the most sense. Thanks guys!

                  Beka~

I have noticed the smelly urine coming from Toby and he is neutered. But is could simply be the territorial thing going on.

I use WSP and the only time I can smell the urine is when I dump the contents into a plastic bag.

This is a very distinct smell, not a bunny urine smell (way different from when I just had Tillie and the odor of cleaning her litter). It almost has a onion smell to it.

Territorial poops can smell a bit oniony – my boys like to do a few right after I’ve cleaned their litter tray out and it’s all fresh and clean. Cheers guys
