I browse through petfinder to look at the cute bunnies every now and then...
Today, one pulled on my heart. It made me smile.
He is a 5 month old neutered dwarf rabbit, currently in foster.
He is basically a male version of my Chacha bun. His name is Chocolate.
Inside, it would make me happy to have another little one running around, keeping Chacha busy, companionship. On the other hand, I live in an apartment, and I have to get my dad's permission first. I would clean out and use the XL dog kennel I have for him (if I am given the OK) and start the bonding process. I see a lot of positives coming out of this - Chacha would be happy to have someone when I am busy at home doing school work, or at work. The downside, I don't know how I would do with TWO free range rabbits. Chacha is really really lazy and doesn't get into naughty stuff (except for chewing on my door to wake me up the other morning) and is the most laid back, diva like rabbit.
I really do not want to make a fuss out of this and I don't really want any pressure.. just some thoughts.
My dad has joked around in the past that I should get another rabbit... the apartment is already rabbit proofed. When both are bonded, I would create a bigger NIC grid condo for them to be in when I am not at home. Or, at least until I know I can fully trust the boy not to get into naughtyness... hahaa.
Ah.. the little man has pulled on my heart |

I would ask your dad first, then take Chacha is to meet buns. Don't get attached to a single bun, let Chacha do the choosing |

Of course I'm going to ask when he wakes up from his nap. If he says no, I'll drop it. |

He said: "Its up to you. As long as he doesn't have bad habits." o_O If she doesn't like him, I'll take her bunnah dating. |

Well, I certainly couldn't think of a better home for him. With that said, you need to remember that not all bunnies can successfully be free roam all the time. I'm worried about your dad saying "As long as he doesn't have bad habits." Because chances are you won't get a ChaCha duplicate. Are you willing to limit her to a pen if he is not free roam material? |

If all goes okay, I plan to build a bigger and spacious nic grid home. I just contacted the shelter and now I'm trying to talk to people to arrange a ride. |

It's a tough decision! With my pair, Otto would do well free range, but I'd never trust Hannah because she likes to explore places she's not supposed to go. Still, I think Otto has been better off with limited space and a buddy than he would've been just being free range. Hannah has added a lot to all of our lives even if she does cause trouble sometimes and keep Otto from being free range when we're not home. I think you'd be a fantastic home for the little guy. Just make sure you have enough time to devote to bonding every day (I was unemployed at the time so time wasn't a problem, but I can't imagine bonding while working full time or going to school). Good luck meeting him! I'm very excited for you and ChaChaBun. |

My school doesn't begin until January I will be at home that quarter for all my studies, and starting Spring-Winter, I'll be at the school twice a week for clinicals. I am working now, but my hours vary week to week. The person that wrote the adoption page said that Chocolate is very shy. I'll include his ad: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/20685146 I'm crossing my fingers that he isn't taken yet, and that the shelter calls me back very soon > |

He is gorgeous! Of course... sometimes one of the great things about adopting a second is getting a different breed or a bun that looks very different from the one you already have. *Looks at Max and Meadow* Erm... nevermind. Lol. |

He's darling! Beka, at least you have one lop and one uppy earred. I ended up with two spotted lops. lol Though personality-wise they're night and day, so that has to count for something. |

Beka, but I'm sure that you can tell them apart. I had a friend text me yesterday saying "So are you gonna give the male a mohawk?" |

Lolz...I was thinking matched set..like salt and pepper shakers or bookends. The question is, are you prepared for either attitude, unbearable cuteness or even disapproval on stereo?! (is thinking of the two siamese cats in Lady & the Tramp) 0_o He is BEYOND adorable! Please let us know how you get on, I'm so excited for you! |

I still haven't heard back from a volunteer. It has been 21 hours. It said approx 48 hours. I hope that he isn't gone I have 2 friends that can give me rides to see him (and bring Chacha along of course). Should I buy another carrier? What will I need? I'm not sure if I can take him home that day (IF miss diva chooses he is a good match for her) or not, but I just want to be prepared. Don't even ask how (if successful) I'm going to tell them apart... LOL |

I would do one carrier. You can start by stressing them on the way home. Then take them directly to a neutral area. I did that with Tillie and Toby and it went off without a hitch. Well sorta.... lol |

Personally, I feel you can always use an extra carrier, but perhaps he already has one. I wouldn't do anything just yet. I feel your pain...my gosh, I'd be going nuts waiting! |

Bring an extra carrier just in case, but definitely try the one carrier on the way home stress trick |
