So a few days ago, my mom found started getting flea bites. There’s an unidentified animal (probably a raccoon) apparently living under our deck… or so we think. She also noticed that a lot of fleas are around the deck, so it seems likely that if it really is a raccoon… it has fleas. There aren’t a lot indoors though, but you can still catch the occasional flea. This would be why I’m worried about Remy. My mom wants to flea bomb the house, and that would mean that we’d have to take Remy out somewhere for three hours or so… but would the house still be okay after that? I’m probably being really paranoid but I don’t want any chemicals or anything to happen to him. Also, I heard that Advantage works… we’re not sure whether Remy has fleas, but we bought some anyway (it seems to be expensive though). Does it matter if it’s for dogs or cats? She bought the small dog type.

I don’t know enough about this to give an answer, but I know plenty of other people here might (: Do you have an experienced rabbit vet you can call as well? I would be concerned about the chemicals from the flea bomb and Advantage too, you’re not paranoid haha ;P

You should use the cat, not the dog for advantage. Also, I would use Revolution because advantage came out with a new kind and I am not sure if it is safe for bunnies. someone else might be able to tell you if it is safe or not though.

Don’t flea bomb the house – it won’t work anyway except to kill the fleas there and it will infect every material in the house with chemicals, but new fleas will still come in if the animal under the house is spreading them. Borax the carpets, wash everything (curtains, bedspreads, etc). Keep Remmy from the borax until you are sure it’s all up, but if not ingested it is safe. Call your vet and get a dose of the cat advantage for him, the vet can tell you how much to use for his weight.

You can also get some flea treatment for your yard, so they don’t get a hold out there.

My mother tried flea bombs when we had dogs at her place, our neighbors dogs had fleas and they never treated their yard etc so we often had fleas from them. They usually only kept the fleas out for a few days. Advantage and a good cleaning with yard treatment worked much, much better.
