Hi, I read that bunnies can eat basil and mint for their diet. But I understand that there’s few types of basil and mint…

I am growing sweet basil and Indian Borage (I thought it’s mint but am told that it’s actually Indian Borage) so wondering if I can give both to my bunnies?

        Thanks!

Basil and mints are both fine.

I think you are correct about Indian Borage, it’s not a mint, not entirely sure what it really is though. I’m thinking you won’t find it on any list because it’s a little more exotic than basil and mint so not sure if it’s safe or not…probably best not to take a chance unless another forum member can verify it for certain.

Ditto that. But there are definitely tons of great herbs you can grow which will be nice for you and your bunny to have. I would’t feed the Indian Borage but the basil will be just great Often it takes offering the new food a few times before they’ll eat it, but I bet your bunny will love it and it’s so nice to give them something fresh and homegrown

            Welcome!

I’ve seen borage on six or seven lists of rabbit-safe herbs/weeds. One was from the RWAF (Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund). Apparently borage is a decent source of vitamin A, but it also has a mild laxative effect, so it’d probably be best to limit it. You might want to look at pictures of borage to make sure that’s, indeed, what you have.
