So, I was getting ready to prune back my raspberry bushes when Mom asked if I was bringing any in to the bunnies. Um, no? There’s thorns?? I’ve seen raspberry leaves recommended before on various sites, but it doesn’t say anything about de-thorning them, and Mom argues that wild bunnies don’t sit there and peel off the thorns before eating them, but yeah.

        Anyone know?

Also, sweet potatoes? I’ve not found anything on those, but Ollie found some stashed (I swear, she’s worse than a ferret getting into places!! ) She nommed the holy daylights out of it, and growled and thumped and bunny-butted when I took it away from her. I can’t find anything saying if sweet potatoes are okay for bunns.

leaves are fine, I’d just pluck the leaves off the stems and give them the leaves, not the whole thing. Sweet potatoes are fine, in small amounts. treat amounts, not full meal amounts.

            Cool, thanks Monkey.

I offer leafy veggies as the full meal amounts, with unlimited hay, and then offer fruits, herbs, and the more ‘special’ veggies, and her pellets, as ‘treat’ amounts. I have to limit the pellets, or she’ll only eat those and nothing else. (Just checking it all sounds right… Mom was saying it should be all pellets, and everything else as treats, but she eats pellets to the exclusion of EVERYTHING else.)

hay should be 95% of diet, then veggies, then pellets.
