Hi there I have a 6lb female and lately she has been spilling her water bowl yes it is cermanic and very heavy. She moves it with her teeth and water goes flying. I was thinking of getting her a stainless steel one that locks to the cage? Is this a good solution or does anyone use them?

Most of the ones I have seen use the plastic crocks that lock to the cage, but yes it is a good solution.

I’ve tried this one that I like:

You want the bigger size – I can’t remember right off what size I have (I don’t use it any longer but if I remember I’ll check the size when I get home).  The thing I don’t like about the metal ones is that it is hard to clasp.  I found the clear one easy to use and you can stick it in the dishwasher to clean.

I have two metal ones, one for overflow water (mine uses a water bottle but it drips for some reason) and one for his food. if you get a metal one make sure he cant pull it off the wall. Some how my bunny did that with one of them and he dragged it over on the other side of the cage O.o
I ended up having to make sure that the clasp was like a plus sign and not a minus so he couldn’t do it again. So far no issues and I like them cause they are super easy to remove and clean. I never have to fuss about the holder just lift the bowl out and viola!

thanks sarita I heard though you shouldn’t use plastic dishes because they can have bacteria?

I’ve never heard that – I imagine any dish that is properly cleaned would have bacteria though. Even a water bottle which are plastic, so that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

It depends on the plastic. Certain plastics are porous and can absorb bacteria – water bottles (as in for humans) for instance typically use porous plastics and are not recommended for reuse. Harder plastics are not porous and will not absorb bacteria, unless they have been chewed or cut (like cutting boards), once they are damaged too much, they can absorb bacteria as well.

But, plastics that are meant for reuse that are not damaged and properly cleaned are not dangerous.
