Houdini has started having wierd poops, they are not same size and look like hay, they are not runny. Look like they are a bunch of tiny poo’s all smushed together. Tried to look online for abnormal bunny poop pictures ( i know, i know…ewwww, but seriously we need a poo refrence sight that we can refer to) I couldnt find any and i forgot to take a picture to post…..anyway.. no diet changes, he is only 7 weeks old, litter mate is doing great….am I being overprotective?

Could be I guess ,but why is he not eating them??? I read that the diet is not good if they are not eating the cecal’s? I have been feeding a pellet that is 17% and alfalfa hay, diet has not changed since i got them two weeks ago and the his littermate is fine.

okay, found a picture of cecal logs on line and it is exactly what they look like. Sooo…its a diet issue, but I am doing what every sight / resource suggests. Maybe the alfalfa hay is too much?

Yeah, those are cecals. I would try to get him to eat more grass hay like timothy.

7 weeks is really very young to be totally away from his mother as well. It’s subject for debate, but I always heard it was healthy at 9 weeks, so it may be effecting his ability to know what to do with his cecals as well. I think with the hay Sarita suggested and a couple of more weeks of maturation, he may be fine. If it shows any change for the worse, make sure you give a sample to the vet.

If you haven’t done this yet, definitely take him for a complete initial examination by the vet you think you want to use. It’s a baseline, and you can mention the cecals too. You want him to get a clean bill of health and have a record in case he changes and she needs a basis of comparison.
