How many times a day do you feed your buns veggies? I was doing a small amount, twice a day, but found she was not eating her hay that well. So, I cut back to once (in the evening). Would love to hear what you all do.

We do ours once a day in the evening, and by the time I go to sleep they’re ready for fresh hay and gobble that down too : D

I feed veggies twice a day. Half in the morning and half at night.

We also give greens both in the morning and before bedtime.

My pair get a huge salad in the morning, pellets at night. If they’re lucky and we’re having some type of veggies for dinner, they might get some of those too. They especially love when they get a bonus romaine core! Or they’ll get some carrots at dinnertime.

I’ve been doing both morning and night. They gobble down their veggies – and don’t eat a lot of pellets – is this okay? I’ve also found they LOVE fresh basil and oregano from the garden – but not mint – but If I put a few mint leaves in with them everything smells fresh and minty all day long! lol

I feed smaller amounts of vegetables 5 times a day, usually just giving my two rabbits a single type of vegetable and not a mixed salad each time. I work at home and I’m here almost all the time, so it’s easy for me to do the multiple feedings. My bunnies seem to like this system. I keep their hay replinished throughout the day, and they get a small amouont of pellets twice a day, once in the late afternoon and again late at night.

Does anyone feed unlimited pellets? I have always fed my piggies unlimited and when I adopted Tillie, the woman who runs the rescue gives her buns unlimited as well.

Bunnies 6 months and under should be fed unlimited alfalfa pellets. Bunnies 6 months and older should be fed 1/4 cup of timothy pellets for 6lbs of body weight. Any changes you make, do it slowly.

I feed about  4 cups of veggies in the morning

Guinea pigs also need limited pellets once they are over 6 months. They should only get 1/8 cup per pig.

Unlimited pellets will cause weight issues – at a rescue it might be OK I guess since usually you’re trying to put weight on rescues, with young buns its fine as well. For adults it’s just too many calories. My girl would eat 2-3 cups of pellets if I let her, can’t imagine how fat she’d get then. lol

I feed my buns veggies in the morning, then some days they get greens before bed depending on what we have.

I have been feeding unlimited pellets – just because it is all my buns EVER ate before – and I wanted to switch them over to different hays and veggies slowly without totally freaking them out.

Well they are barely eating any pellets at all. Is that okay? They nibble at them here and there – but really maybe eat a few tablespoons a day – should I be concerned? They are a ton of hay and veggies – wolf them down like they are going out of style!

“Salad” three times a day (morning, after work, and before bedtime), one T. of pellets in the morning, and unlimited hay. Captain Danger is a good eater

I feed unlimited pellets to mine because they don’t get veggies… they always get diharrea! I will be switching to limited pellets later, probably soon! But Marvin is really small so I think he may still be growing? Does anyone know when rabbits stop growing?

At about a year they will reach their adult size. My buns get less than 1/8 cup pellets each, with a bunch of veggies at dinner time, hay all day.

My bunnies get their pellets in the am- 1 Tablespoon for Cotton and 1/4 cup for Griffin and Schroeder that are penned together. They get their hay refilled when I notice they need it. And they get their “salads” at night.
Lately I have also been giving plain Timothy hay pellets to them as well about twice a week- I bought a 50lb bag for my horse but the bunnies like them too. It is not as ideal as regular hay which they get as well but it seems to provide some more hay variety for them.

How come your rabbits do not get any veggies? Also, what sort of pellets are you giving your rabbit?

If your rabbit is a year old, you should be limiting his pellets. A lot of rabbits may snub veggies, but don’t give up. I had to chase my rabbit around the living room to try out romaine and now she can’t get enough of the stuff. It worked after I started limiting her pellets. She become more open to trying new things.

Chacha bun is a year and 8 months old, 4 lbs. She gets 1 tablespoon of pellets in the morning, fresh hay throughout the day, and veggies at night. It is a routine.. I get the evil eye if I’m late.
