also Ive tried to do some plucking while petting him but there just seems to be no end!  I dusted my fan and even that was covered in bunny fur…any tips? he gets soo annoyed at me for brushing him and Im actually more worried about sophie getting a blockage because Ive found some clumps of hair in her poop….

Sounds like your bunny is going through an explosion molt. How old is he — Is this his first molt? If so then typically the first is one of the worst. All you can do is just brush him and make sure that both he and Sophie are eating plenty of hay and are plenty hydrated — lots of water and/or extra greens for Sophie if they are old enough for greens.

It is his first molt him and sophie both drink lots of water usually at least one water bottle a day plus I was almost wondering if they could eat too much hay! they both actually get super excited for it and eat non-stop especially when I put it in an empty glove box I have.  they get greens twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.  I havent had any issues but when I saw the poop filled with hair I got slightly worried but neither seems to be affected.  just being a worrysome bunny mommy… I had no clue soooooo much fur could come off such a little guy plus when you inhale it its definitely no fun!

That is great they eat so much hay! And that is probably why they drink so much water. The fact you saw fur in Sophies poo means that at least it’s getting passed through and so that is a good sign. All that hay and water is probably keeping hair on the move and out of their system.

I know what you mean about inhaling — fur face! Just little floating pieces around your nose, in your eyes. Gack! When you are brushing, keep a couple of damp wash cloths nearby to wipe your face.

Put him somewhere he is not used to being- and being out of his element might allow you to do a more intensive grooming session. When my bunnies are exploding with fur- I take them out onto our upper deck (less mess in the house but may not be an option for some members) and put them on the patio table (on a towel for secure footing) and I have all my grooming tools ready- I Zoom Groom, Furminate, and Hair Buster their coats and then when I am finished I dip my hands in a glass of water and pet them to pull out the rest of the loose fur.

so as an update the shedding continues… I’ve attempted everything but I think Cady is just too comfortable with me where if I take him in another room he thinks “leave me alone mom I want to check things out.” In the last week I’ve purchased a pet fur remover mitt, a gigantic lint roller thing for the rug, another pet hair remover thing for furniture and multiple dusting utensils. I spent a few minutes petting Cady with the mitt and it worked pretty well, my boyfriend was shocked at the amount of hair, but I told him that’s not even a 1/4 of what I’ve gotten off him… I guess shaving hmi is out of the question? JK! I would never do that although would be an interesting looking bunny !
