I get Sweet Meadow hay too and there are a lot of leaves in it. I was nervous at first and picked them out, but after a while I just let my bunnies eat everything and they’re fine. Since their hay is grown on a farm, I guess it gets lots of stuff moxed in. My bunnies seem to enjoy it- I get the Sweet Meadow Hay and the 1st Cut Timothy from there too. It smells so fresh- I only use Sweet Meadow and Binky Bunny hay now.

Looks like nettles and yes, you find things like these in hay.

1st cut typically is the one that is more stalky, will contain the most weeds and even some of what was planted there the year before. 2nd also but not as much. It’s not necessarily a bad thing though! Some weeds (like nettles, dandies) rabbits will regard as a treat. The stalky hay is great fibre also.

Since Sweet Meadow Farm markets for the small animals I’m guessing they’d ensure there is not a lot of nasty weeds in there, just the typical harmless ones.
