I adopted my bunny from a rescue several weeks ago.  He’s been doing very well, but today while he was eating hay in his litter box, he was making this loud noise.  I’m not sure, maybe it was teeth grinding? Before I adopted him, he had broken a tooth from chewing on a cage at the rescue and was taken to the vet to make sure everything was okay – which it was.  Right before he was eating hay, I was cleaning his room/cage and had him in a travel pet carrier that he was pawing/chewing at to get out.  Maybe this aggravated to the tooth?  I’m not sure if this is something to worry about?

Without knowing what the noise was, can’t really say… my male grinds his hay up with his back teeth and it makes some noise, which is normal, but I wouldn’t really call it loud. Dental problems can lead to them not eating though, so keep an eye on his pellet/hay intake to make sure the tooth isn’t bugging him.

Thanks I thought maybe he was just grinding the hay, but wasn’t sure. I’ve been watching his intake since we had him and he’s shown no signs of his teeth hurting as he munches down veggies, pellets, hay and anything he comes in contact with, lol. We’re taking him soonish to get neutered
, so I figured I’d just mention it at this checkup.

Definitely have them recheck the teeth during the neuter while he’s sedated. Many rabbits with molar spurs or dental problems just don’t show anything that is always obvious and may continue to eat as normal even though their mouth hurts.
