Has anyone tried this? If so, do your buns like it?

I have, yes. they do like them, I sometimes give them as treats, not as the supplement they say.

I am going to the guinea rescue this week and making a list of stuff to get her. Is it better to stick with the papaya treat or supplements? Maybe get both? Oxbow has a Papaya Medley that I think she will like. She absolutely loves the Oxbow Barley Biscuits!

You could get both, just use the tablets as treats too.

Really, there is no proof that the papaya tablets help aid in digestion, some people swear by them and they certainly don’t hurt. I use mine as treats as well. The very best thing for digestion is just good old hay. The rescue store has all the APD and Oxbow treats and my rabbits love all of them. There are also some very nice Oxbow Timothy Mats that some of my rabbits just love to destroy so check those out as well.

I don’t think there’s much research at all to show that papaya enzymes really do anything for gut health, but bunnies like them and I think they make a nice reasonably healthy treat.

Sarita, I could spend way too much money there. I have had my eye on the timothy lounger, hehe!

luvmyhuybuny: you wouldn’t happen to be in CA? I have a bottle of the Oxbow tablets just sitting around. Both of my buns doesn’t like it…I can send them to you!?

I split a tablet between my two bunnies every day. One of my bunnies gets these occasional sluggish periods that last for a few hours, so I thought it might be helpful for him, and the vet said to go ahead and use them. He rarely has those sluggish periods any more. I have no idea if the papaya tablets helped or if it’s just a coincidence.

I use mine as treats as well. Kahlua is picky and often turns them down but Rupert will climb the moon for one

We use them every day, without fail. They each get two a night, instead of conventional treats like fruit. Our vet, who’s recommended by the Colorado House Rabbit Society, stocks them, and the CO-HRS uses them for their bunnies as well. Remy and Momo are very healthy buns, so I think probably the enzymes do at least *something* lol.

Plus, our buns think they are the cat’s pajamas. They go NUTS over them and it’s hilarious to watch : )
