What a morning! Sugarbear got his teeth stuck somehow on the bars of the NIC cage and urine guard.  Poor thing…I had to help him push is mouth off it. Well now one tooth is sticking out. He looks like Nanny Mcphee! I wrapped him up right away and needless to say he was stunned and I’m sure in pain. I held him for a while and let him go when he wanted too. He was still able to eat but I can tell it was hard for him.  I will call the vet as soon as they open.

Have any of you experienced this? Will they just trim his tooth or extract it? Ohhh…I feel so bad for him!

Poor little dude! I have never had this happen but he needs to have the vet take a look for sure. Not sure of course what the vet will have to do as far as the tooth since there is no way for us to know the damage.

Sarita: I’m bringing him in at 3p today (the doctor is booked-I will just go in on stand-by). I’m so beside myself right now at work- can’t concentrate!

Can you drop him off for the vet to fit him in between appointments?

Vibes for Sugar! That sounds so scary for both of you.

Good morning…well I took Sugarbear to the vet….Dr. Harvey looked at him and figured not one but both teeth in the front were broken. She numbed him up and was able to pull both of them out. She gave him antibiotics (just in case) and pain meds. He did eat a little bit when he got home and this morning I saw him picking at his vegetables.

I feel so bad for him but he is such a little trooper. Since he does have malocclusion Dr. Harvey is hoping his teeth will grow back straight- that would be awesome!

Thank you all for the healing vibes. This has not been a good month for us (and my wallet)! Pepper, then Sugar….

Elrohwen: so very scary…I was in tears when I realized he was stuck. I was trying to stay calm but I can tell he was in so much pain I just wanted to get him un-stuck! I keep re-playing back in my head what else I could have done…*sigh* I just hope this never happens again!

Poor guy! Rabbits can fare pretty well without their front teeth. Healing vibes for Sugar!

I’m glad she was able to help, and I forgot that with rabbit’s growing teeth, they’ll grow back. That’s so cool.
Do NOT beat yourself up. You did a good job in freeing him (otherwise he might have pulled them out himself, so you prevented it from being worse) and you got him treated by the vet asap. You did the best anyone could, and now he’s all better.

Take a pix of him so we can see what your brave little gummy bear looks like.
                              Sending healing vibes.

He’s a beauty! (and ever so slightly familiar.) You can’t tell he has missing teeth.

                                               Oh!

I used to make dentures but can you imagine for a rabbit?! omg     I did come across stories of crowns and things made for dogs though.

Glad Sugars teeth are sorted out, poor little thing. I swear, the trouble buns can get themselves into!

Honeybunny: I got the cardboard from http://www.leithpetwerks.com/indexpage.cfm?category=11
They still have them for only $2.79.

Jerseygirl: thank you! I’m praying both my bunnies will be good for the next several months…

Glad it’s all working out…HEALING VIBES THAT SUGAR”S TEETH GROW BACK STRAIGHT AND QUICK. Are uine guards even all that great? They (the ones I’ve seen) looked ineffective to me and it always seemed to me that some urine would splash on either side of or past the guard? I have one that I never ended up using.

Thank you lashkay! My other buns, Pepper likes to bite on the bars, so I’m using the urine guards to cover parts of it…

I well know how that goes….my Petie loved to bite the bars too, until I jammed a dried grass mat (the floor of his all-grass hidey house until he ripped it apart) against the bars and secured it and now thank goodness, he doesn’t bother anymore.
