I take him outside every so often after bushing to pull out loose hair. I don’t yank it out, I just ran my hand over him and grab sections – it’s not difficult to end up with a ton of hair floating around the yard.  This time when  was one, I noticed a bald spot on his right hindquarter about the size of a quarter that was bald to the skin.  I am hoping this is just from the hot and humid weather we have been having and the “dehairing”just pulled out an already very loose section of hair.  I have never had these problems before and just want to make sure.  If I should be going ahead and taking him to the vet for a checkover, I’d rather do that.  I called the vet and they told me to keep an eye on his toe and the baldspot.  We’ve just been putting neosporin on both places, just in case.  Any info or advice?  Thanks much!

What does the bald spot look like? Does it look red/irritated? Or like normal skin?

My first thought is mites. We cannot diagnose on this site, but can you snap a picture so we can see what it looks like?

Sometimes a heavy molt will leave bald spots, but I know in your other post you said that Bailey was going to a new loving home in about a week. I think partly because of that you should have him checked over for the new adoptive mom.
