There are so many tics at our house during the summer. Our cats go outside and when they come in they bring in tics! They have Frontline so if the tics bite them die but I am so scared that the bunny’s might get one! I know wood tics probably wont hurt them but dear tics could!

What I am wondering is, What can I get to put on them so the tics will die? I have seen some spray made for small animals that you can put on, but I doubt it would work.

I am very scared because last summer our cats got Lymes disease and almost died and he even had Frontline!

I would call the vet and see what they recommend, I don’t know any topical tick killer that would work on a rabbit.

Revolution is the only thing that comes to mind but I’ve heard that it’s not great when it comes to ticks. But, some protection is better than none, right?
Stay away from things sold in pet stores though, other than Advantage (and Frontline, but that’s not bun-safe). Zodiac and Hartz are the ones that come to mind, and they are terrible! More stories about those killing the pets rather than fleas and ticks…

RAID, which is sold usually at grocery and drug stores, makes carpet powders and sprays. They do not go on the animals, but kill/prevent fleas and ticks in your home. I would strongly reccommend NOT letting your rabbits out onto areas that have been sprayed with RAID, though. It’s the best product I’ve used, but I’d imagine quite dangerous to animals so close to the ground.

I called and asked my vet about revolution awhile ago and they said it was fine but I didn’t ask them about advantage. Does advantage kill tics?

Just looked it up- no. I’d go with the Revolution.
