  Hi there i have a 4 year old female that I rescued a year ago. I noticed about 2 weeks ago that she had urinated outside her litterbox. I thought maybe there was a hole in the litterbox but couldn’t find one. Yesterday I changed her flooring of her cage to make it more cooler for the hot summer months. When i woke up this morning 2 urinated in 2 places. Is she just marking her territory or is something wrong?

  Not really sure but it could be a possible Urinary Tract Infection. Wouldn’t hurt to have her seen by a vet to rule that out.

  Females will sometimes back up over the edge of the litterbox and pee, was it right outside of it? As far as changing the flooring, I suppose that could trigger her to mark. Maybe see if she continues to do it or if it looks like she’s straining to pee. Like Sarita said, a vet visit couldn’t hurt. Has she had her yearly check-up this year?

  Yes she did pee right outside both of the corners of her litterbox where she pees?

  If so, then I’m guessing she just lifted her butt over the edge. What size litterbox does she have? Can you get a box with higher sides?

  it is a cat litterbox she is 6lbs so i need a big litterbox.
