My youngest rabbit has had problems with sore hocks. Medication and a certian lotion from the vet cleared it up. But now she has rawish spots on her front paws. Is there anything I can do for them. She doesn’t have any metal mesh in her cage and I keep her potty clean.

Mine are prone to sore spots on their feet as well. I’ve tried Quadritop and Derma Vet from the vet but they continue to come back. As far as prevention, I’ve heard to layer lots of fleece blankets in their primary living area.
Right now, I’m using New Skin from the drug store on any sore spots. This was at the advice of a few rabbit books as well as my vet. You could also use moleskin (like for foot corns), but I don’t think that would work for the front feet.

What kind of flooring does your bunny have? Is your bunny a rex? Overweight or handicapped?
I can only suggest seeing the vet again to get the cream at this point. Perhaps adjusting the habitat to be even softer could help

My rabbit has plastic cage flooring and soft carpet when she is out. I do have a mini mixed rex, but, surprisingly, it’s the other rabbit’s (Marge) feet that give me problems. . . And she hates people to mess with her feet, especially the front paws.  I have heard the “New Skin” is good for things like this. Has your rabbit tried to lick it off. I was afriad mine would.

You do need to let it dry for about 10 minutes. I have to hold mine rabbit for that time. Surprisingly, I haven’t noticed him bother the area at all. It smells VERY strongly, so much so that I feel bad for exposing him to it. I think that’s why he doesn’t bother with it.

My vet gave me something called “DermaGel” for sore hocks. It coats and soothes the feet and is rabbit safe. It worked well for my lop’s swollen/red hocks when applied 2x day. You should ask your vet about it.

Can you get a picture? Having callouses is normal, so it might just be that her fur is a little worn away and you can see the pink callous. But if you’ve had sore hock issues before, you’re probably well versed on what sore vs normal looks like. If it really is raw, I would ask the vet for some more meds.
