Hello, sometimes I get very busy at the office and end up going back to work for a few hours in the evenings.  My bun thus gets a little lonely (please no replies that she should have a mate, I have tried and will be trying again to get her a compatable buddy).  This may sound a little nuts but if anyone else is a one on one companion with their rab maybe it makes sense.  I was thinking of bringing her in with me for a few hours in the evening.  She’s been there before and was quite comfortable as she just looks around a little and mostly lays by my feet.  Is it ok if she was with me a few hours every few evenings, away from her food and water and litter?  I don’t think I’d do it if I had to haul her stuff but she has been ok away from everything for a few hours on different occasions in the past.  Opinions please! Thanks!  PS and maybe I should bring her a little snack for while she’s out?

I wouldn’t, if you can’t take her water and litter and hay. 3 hours could make for alot of little accidents

For me, I would think it would be fine. I take my rabbits all day to the vets with veggies and hay of course and they are fine. As long as you think she does well and have hay for her, I don’t see why not.

One of the volunteers at our rescue often takes bunnies to work, if they have vet appointments or are sick and can’t be left alone.  I think it would be fine to take your bunny with you.

Regarding food/litter tray, any chance you can jut get some kind of low sided plastic container and throw hay into it?  This can double as a temporary litterbox and a food source for a few hours.  A plastic bowll kept in your desk can b a water bowl too.

great! yeah i guess i could improvise a little so she’s not thirsty or hungry or holding her pee. in my experience of taking her around to my grandma’s house and a couple times in the office, there were no accidents, she is really good about that, but it would be unfair if she was about to pee or eat right before i took her and then she had to be uncomfortable that whole time. thanks!

Don’t know if that would work but try putting her in her litter (if that’s possible) just before going. Eva has a litter box in the bathroom and she knows that when I start preparing her things, pick her up and place her in the litter box it’s time to pee and go for a ride that way I never have an accident in the car or when we visit my parents etc.

I’ve thought about doing this as well since my schedule often requires me to go back to the office after dinner. My thought regarding the hay/litter/water thing was to get some of those disposable litter trays that are in the cat section of most pet stores. I would then keep a few of those and a little bag of hay and a bowl for water (I bring a bottle of water for me everywhere so it’s easy for me to share with her) in a cabinet somewhere. That way at the end of the night, if she’s used the tray as a litter box, I can just toss it in the dumpster when I leave. If she didn’t then I can just put it away for next time. Then I can always pack a few toys in the carrier with her and we’d be all set!

Anyway, that’s my plan for myself if I ever feel like I need to bring her with me. Hope you’re able to work something out!

I think it would be fine! You could set up the carrier like a litter box and hopefully she’d figure it out. Otto has no problems holding it for 12+ hours a day (by his own choice) so a few hours shouldn’t be an issue unless she’s trying to mark. You could also stick some hay in the bottom of the carrier so she knows it’s ok to pee there and so she has something to snack on.

I would also leave a little water dish at work so you could just fill it up in the bathroom and give it to her – then you wouldn’t have to drag stuff with you every time.

I wish I could bring my two to work! I always joke that I’m going to block off my cube with a baby gate and bring them in for some morale boosting.
