So last night i was woken up by a GRRRRR! sound!!!! wtf?! From what it seems PB & J were playing in their crinkle tunnel when it all went down.

When I turned on the lights, jelly was in the cage and PB was by the tunnel.  They are mother (2.5 yrs) and daughter (9 months) and are crazy about eachother.  I’ve never heard a growl before! I thought there was a dog in the room.

        Should I be worried?

Nah, when they get angry or sometimes playful they’ll jump at each other and grunt. My older rabbit always did it and the one I have now rarely does it.

My female growls, grunts and makes all sorts of noises when she’s playing. Only be worried if it seems to be an aggressive move, or if there are any spats that break out from it.

lol, no don’t worry about a thing. Remy grunts and growls when we play. He lunges and binkies off when we wiggle our fingers at him : D

Some bunnies make “honking” sounds, like a swan. It’s really quite alarming the first time you hear it. It’s a daily sound in my house since I got Olivia though.

Sammy growls often – she thinks she’s fierce.

Forgive me if I don’t remember, but is the daughter spayed? If not, it could indicate hormonal changes and that would make her more aggressive, and could actually jeopardize their bond. If she hasn’t been, please have it done. Actually, it’s very healthy for both of them because it prevents cancer in female bunnies.

Otherwise, if they are ok that way, then they are probably just playing. Check them for any bite marks, just in case someone got too rough.

Thanks! Both are spayed… we have been observing them and think Peanut Butter growled. She’s the Alpha and sometimes Jelly likes to take on her territory. They haven’t growled since.

I’m glad to know this is all normal hehe

I get honked at every day from Gabby. She gets super excited over food and will grunt/lunge to get you to drop what you’re feeding her. If we get onto her for bad behavior she will do the honk at us too.

Olivia does this too. What a bunch of stinkers!
