So here’s a few snaps I took of Mimzy. This is the pose he assumes after he’s had metacam that makes me think he might be having trouble breathing. He looks exhausted in the first photo (sorry about the cage bars, that’s the only way to get this expression on him) and then seems to perk up when he knows I’m taking pix…darned ‘bunny hides illness response’ I suppose…

You’re disturbing my nap…..you realize what this means, right?

And some shots from this morning that he looked so somber in it made me sad. (please ignore the poopies…we hadn’t cleaned for morning yet) He doesn’t have his sleeping shelf here anymore due to his arthritis. Perhaps he slept/sat like this under the shelf and I never noticed how gloomy he is first thing because I couldn’t see it? But he used to be energetic when he noticed I was up…now, well…just that deadpan face.

I’d given him a head pet right before I took the last one, so he’d hunkered down waiting for a full groom.

Maybe he’s just bummed that he can’t have that perch to sit on or hide under? But I would think it’d make him more angry/skittish than just as if he didn’t care.

I did call my vet and unfortuantely Mimzy’s favorite is out this weekend, but I left a message for her in case she pops in.

I know you all can’t tell from these if he’s got the blues…or even if he’s just stretching in new ways/holding cramped positions because his hips are hurting him…but I just wanted you to see what I’m seeing. I’m going for another snuggle session with him and Fiver this evening, which he seemed to enjoy but it made Fiver (and me!)  a bit nervous becasue Mimz kept wanting to jump onto Fiver’s roof…OH! Did I tell you Mimzy groomed Fiver through his door TWICE! I thought that was a HUGE step because so far they’ve been battling with their noses to see who could get a groom out of who first….lol. I saw Mimzy turn his bum on Fiver more than once and was ready to push Mimz away if Fiver decided to chew on it.

I’ll get some shots of them together after I return from the cancer walk so you can see the change in Mimzy’s face when he’s near Fiver. I think it is something that brightens him up, since I had such a hard time returning Mimz to his habitat last night. In the first pix I’d given him a bit of metacam because he seemd kind of gimpy from all yesterday’s activity. Then this morning he is still kind of down. I think it’s because he knows he has to wait for me to get back tonight before he can see his buddy again.

AWww those are great pictures One thing I’ve noticed with dogs at least is if they lay down and something is uncomfortable (like they aren’t fully on the bed, or say…a litter box is under their chin) they don’t get up and readjust. Perhaps he was like ‘meh this is fine’ Actually with those legs stretched out he looks very comfy to me-though with the typical bunny ‘disapproving’ look. *hugs* let me know if you hear back from the vet or how things go!

That’s called the rabbit Zen pose at my house. That means they are comfortable. I imagine the glazed look you are talking about is just him trying to get some rest.

Bindi lays like that sometimes too with his chin on his litterbox. He does it most often after run-time when he’s tired.
