My female likes to leave 1 spot of pee outside the litter box almost everyday. I think it’s on purpose… It’s always a very small puddle and never more than 1. I immediately clean it up when I spot it and spray with vinegar/water mix but it’s almost always a different spot each time; sometimes it will be in the condo, sometimes in the x-pen. What can I do to stop this?

I understand she may be marking but if I can’t get her to stop, I can’t let her roam around my apt and I can’t expand my x-pen any larger as I live in a tiny tiny apt. She looks jealously as my male get to roam; he has very little “bad” behavior so when he escapes, I just let him.

How big is the box? Is it at all possible she’s hanging her butt off of the side of the box? Both of my rabbits did this and I had to get them 2 big litter boxes and I also used the plastic bottom of a pet store cage as a giant litter box.

No, it’s not from hanging off. The box is in the condo in the corner of the main floor and the spot would occur on 1 foot away, on another level in the condo, in the x-pen, etc. There’s now a total of 3 boxes and it still doesn’t help. Sometimes when I try to pet her in the pen she will run a couple feet and then pee; when she is startled she will also leave a little spot; these would fulfill the daily quota. Other times I just find the random spots without anything in particular triggering.

              Is she spayed?

If it happens when she is startled, it could be a fear thing. My girl Monkey has an issue sometimes, where she will go while she is sleeping. Not much I can do about it :/

You may want to get her checked out, see if its a health issue.

Yes she is spayed and she’s 2+ y/o. Is there something specific to have her checked for? We already saw the vet and got a clean bill of health but I didn’t mention it (thought it was an adjustment thing); it was a general checkup.

Since this past Friday, I’ve let both roam free and (x fingers) haven’t stepped on any pee yet… but maybe it’s in the corner or shadows somewhere and will have a headache later.

well, keep an eye out for puddles. If its a new thing, could be a UTI, which is easily fixed
