        Chacha does not like carrots…

Now, I got some spinach for my chicken parmigiana and I decided to give a piece to Chacha.

        This is what happened:

Chacha: *puts nose under spinach leaf and moves my finger*

        Me:  *does it again*

Chacha: *chews and spits spinach out*

This is a work in progress….

        Any picky rabbits out there?

          Mine don’t like spinach too.

They are also not keen on cauliflower, beetroot, brussels, celery and couregette

You have probably heard this a lot of times but I have never known a rabbit that didn’t like carrots.

She just snubs it.. it makes me surprised she is trying the spinach, or ripping it and spitting it out

My two also didn’t care for carrots but I only tried it once. They also are not fond of bok choy, kale, and fennel. They did eventually eat all the veges given except for the kale which I had to throw away.

So far, their favs are carrot tops and dandelion. Unfortunately, dandelion greens are expensive so I don’t get it for them every week. Then again, carrot tops can be obtained for free so that kind of evens it out.

So far Hodari has eaten everything I’ve given her; she seems inclined to try just about anything. However she does not like mustard greens any more, and collards are now eaten dead last, or altogether avoided. Also, she used to think parsley was kind of yucky, but I keep giving it to her anyway, and she has gotten progressively better about eating it. Maybe it takes her some time to decide if she likes something or not.

That’s cute about ChaCha and her spinach. I had a guinea pig who was adorable when I tried to give him spinach once. He took the whole leaf into his mouth in that circular, clockwise fashion; but then he reversed gears and out came the piece of spinach, counter-clockwise and still entirely whole. It hadn’t been chewed! I didn’t know they could do that. I’m waiting for Hodari to do that one of these days. I hope she does; it’s a neat trick. Lol.

Gabby was not into green bell pepper at first but after I kept giving her a couple of slices every night she decided to try it. She loves it now.

chacha isnt alone! Cady snubs his carrots too but Sophie seems to love them so far, originally Cady wouldn’t eat anything other than green leaf lettuce but he has made some progress to parsley and escarole lettuce as well as green peppers, which Sophie wont touch.

I haven’t tried much with Tait yet, but bell pepper didn’t go well. He grabbed it from my hand and immediately spit it out, gave me the “ARE YOU TRYING TO POISON ME!” look .

My two bunnies don’t like spinach, they don’t like cabbage very much either. I only give them a little bit every once in a while, but they don’t even finish it. They like broccoli, but not as much as other veggies. They do love carrots, along with kale, mixed leafy lettuces, cilantro, dandelion greens, parsley, carrot tops, turnip greens and collards. I have never tried mustard greens, green peppers or celery. I’ve always thought that celery could be dangerous, since it is stringy, although the leaves would be fine. I tried Swiss chard once and they didn’t like it. I occasionally buy Brussels sprouts, if I go to a store that sells them individually, instead of bagged. They seem to like that pretty well, even though I would think it tastes similar to cabbage.

Picky? Um, like my diva is PICKIER than yours!! Like really. It took me two weeks, count them, fourteen days, to get her LICK a tiny piece of an orange slice. This is after I gave up trying to get her to try a strawberry. She literally would run to the other side of the room if I suggested she try a piece of strawberry.

Now of course, after a few days of licking, she took a nibble and darted off. As if it would hurt her -.- then after another few days she’d take a little bigger nibble. A few weeks later now she wolfs down little orange treats. *shakes head* It takes me a few months just to get up the courage to try something new with her.

Kate and Spence looooove carrots. But they refuse to eat the leafy tops, go figure. They also will not eat bell peppers, spinach or collard greens. And they both shun berries of any kind. They mostly just smoosh them all up so I have to clean them out of the blanket the next day. And they always like and dislike the same things, I think that they have a little agreement going on. Kate says, hey, I don’t like this spinach, if you’ll pretend that you don’t like it either, I’ll pretend that I don’t like these collard greens that you don’t like. Or maybe Katherine the Great (my nickname for Katie when she’s being a diva) just decrees that she doesn’t like something and her loyal subject goes along with it. That might be more likely.

Momo does not like carrot either. When we tried carrot she only ate some of it, and it made her poops soft. I have yet to try carrot greens though. My carrots from last years veggie garden magically reappeared so I have a mountain of greens out there. I just need to go pick em.

Hoppy doesn’t like Green Pepper, Bok Choy, Kale, Mustard Greens, Spinach, Strawberry, carrots or Watercress. He does like Banana, Basil, Celery, Cilantro, Dandelion Greens, Endive, Mint, Parsley and Radicchio. The Dandelion Greens isn’t expensive where I live but the Radicchio is even though I found a cheaper place to get it its still $3.99 per lb. Hoppy has to have Radicchio, Celery and Cilantro daily or he gets mad at me. He also loves to have the endive in his cage as those are his favorite. I only give him banana once a week, tomorrow he will get a small chunk so I can get him into his carrier as he is getting neutered tomorrow so I need a way to get him into his cage. The vet said I can give him as much fresh veggies and hay as I want and to limit his pellets to a small amount, I give him 1/4 cup of pellets a day and the rest in hay and veggies. I keep trying new veggies each week but he really doesn’t try them for a week even though for that week I put it in his cage daily so he has the opportunity to try it. Keep trying you may be surprised that you find it gone one morning when you wake up and find your bunny likes it but it just took him/her time to decide to try it.
