I did manage to find one at Petco this week, only to get it home and realize, it’s SCENTED. Whaaa? And your’e not supposed to use cleansers on it because it will cause the box to smell badly and the cat (or other animal) won’t use it.

It is supposed to be lavendar, but I know we aren’t to use even scented candles around the bunnies unless they are made with certain ingredients. I was so hoping to find something easier for Mimzy to get in and out of.

Did anyone have a link to somewhere to get low sided litter bxoes? It has to be small enough to fit through the door of his night habitat which is about 8-10 inches wide. I have one I can use in his xpen that’s considerably larger, but I need one for overnights until the three have a conglomerated condo.

Not quite sure what I’ll do with this one. Too low for my cats, they’ll pee over the edge. And I already tore all the tags off…that’s when I realized it was scented.

I tried looking for soem online.. then I had an idea.

What about something like a pyrex baking dish? They would be lower than a litter box, and come in all shapes and sizes.

I’ve looked at some of those here, but they all seem very thick and heavy…Mimzy likes pushing or throwing his litter box around…wouldn’t he hurt himself trying to pick something like that up in his teeth?
Most of the ones our stores have are too large to get into his night hab too. And I’m notoriously clumsy…I’d hate to drop one of these. 0_o
I wonder if heavy plastic trays for seedlings that one would find at a nursery might work? If I can find a tray that doesn’t have the little holes in the bottom for drainage…that would defeat the purpose.

              Plastic tupperware maybe? hmm…

Oh hey, I hadn’t thought of that…duh! *forehead slap*
Yeah, I’ve been looking in all the wrong places in my store then…I’ll see if I can find a plastic tub aisle somewhere. Thanks, MB!

I buy those 2 piece high sided cat litter ones and take off the top for Mango and that works well. I have a dog one for Toffee, but it’s quite large and I cannot seem to find them any longer.

That’s a bit over the top…a scented litterbox. I think they are running out of ideas for pet inventions. Gonna make a real difference when there is some steaming cat poo smell in there.

I was mad the other day when I bought litter for my cats and realized the litter is scented. Really strong! My cats hated it. It smelled like super strong laundry detergent. Not a smell cats are real fond of.

Good luck finding a nice litter box!

check out the litter boxes they make for dogs. they are shallow, and usually have a dip in the front to make them easier to get in and out of. we used one when our ferrets got old and started developing mobility issues. my boy with no use of his hind end was able to pull himself in and out of the box with no problems.

Leith Petwerks has a few litter boxes with one lower side/end. They aren’t low all across that one side/end, but  they have a lower opening.  They did have one other one when I checked a few weeks ago, that had one very low side–the whole end was only about 1″ high, but that one isn’t on there now.

There are several pages of litter boxes on Amazon, and some are the ones with the one lower end.

I just got a new litter pan for Sammy at Target, and was concerned about how high it was to get into, so the jury’s still out. I just am tired of using two small ones side by side when she has abandoned one anyway. This was soooooo cheap (cat) and the same as what I saw later at Petco, so am glad I found it.
I think if you checked out what they have, including the covered kind like Sarita mentioned, plus looked at their kitchen stuff for the tupperware-type pans, you may find something good to use. Don’t forget garden centers and auto sections of the store where pans for draining oil and things like that are sold.

Good ideas everyone! Thanks so much! I’ll see what I can find and let you know how we do.
On a side note…Poor Mimz…it’s been in the high 80’s all week and he is just a little bunny puddle himself on the floor. It’s way too hot and humid for him here right now, even with freeze bottles. I’m not sure he’s taking in enough water to GO pee. Or maybe it’s just evaporating as he swallows it.
Pip has also joined the ‘pee wherever you feel like it’ club. Can’t tell for sure what is up with her, but I’m thinking I’ll need to find her different litter boxes also.
Oi. Always something. Looks like we all need diapers.

I don’t know if anyone mentioned this but I use the bottom of a small dog carrier that you take your dog to the vet in.. I took off the top and just use the bottome it has worked out great and was cheaper then other litterbox.
