I just succesfully bonded Bagheera and Lion with their new lady Velvet~ *cheers*

My question now is that I gave them about 2 cups of pellets and it was all gone this morning and I have no clue who ate what. What is the best way to moniter their pellet intake without staring them down?

I am very excited that I moved them into our aviary so they have a 10×10 area and I can just put hay wherever and make a huge mess and it doesn’t matter because its not my bedroom!!!! yaaaaaay!! It’s not at all glamourous by any means but they have a  lot more room and Bagheera is actually out and about and not sitting in the litterbox!

Lion and Baggy are a year old now and Velvet is about 8 months old. Should I try 3 food dishes? I have a ton of hay in there I don’t think its too huge of a deal if somebunny is hogging more pellets than another??

Do they have individual cages at all? Pellets can make a bunny overweight, I know I’ve read a few times here about one eating way more or all of the pellets and the other not getting any.

I sprinkle my pellets for hte girls all over the floor of their pen, so no bunny hogs a dish. it helps them both get their share

You could also only feed them twice a day in smaller amounts, all with separate dishes. That way there won’t be any left over food throughout the day for only one to eat and you can see how much each one eats. I have to do this with mine, as apparently Fievel is half pig.

I had two bowls for Eddie and Lolli cause I didn’t want bossy Eddie keeping Lolli away from the food. Turns out that wasn’t a problem as she just growled at him and pushed her way to the bowl. LOL But I gave them the 1/4 cup in each bowl and tried not to worry about who was eating what.

We need to keep in mind that they are animals and will always find a way to get to their food. The only time it would be a problem is if one is getting fat. lol

Onetwothree: No it’s just a large enclosure that is 10’x10′ – before they were trio’d the boys were together in one cage and Velvet in another.

Ohhhh duhh the sprinkle method!!! That is a GREAT idea – I know it was mentioned many times I feel like a dunce for not remembering that!

That could keep them very entertained!

                  Thanks guys for the tips

I didn’t even realise the boys had made up! What did you do for bonding the 3? Lots of play dates?
