Rabbits shed four times per year (usually two heavy sheds and two lighter sheds).

Fur can also fall out from mites. Has he even seen a vet?

When your bunny sheds (and it can come off in clumps, so don’t be scared) it is important that they don’t eat too much of it. Bunnies cannot throw up, so can’t cough up furballs like a cat does. So, you can help by:
Combing or brushing your bunny gently several times a day to get the shed fur off the coat.
If the bunny resists a brush, you can also wet your hands and pet them, so the fur sticks to your hands. Remove it and repeat.
Give the bunny plenty of hay to eat so (his or her?) gut keeps moving and digesting what little fur they ate anyway.
Keep an eye on the poos. If they become small and strung together like with tiny threads, that is a “string of pearls” and means there is too much fur in the bunny’s tummy. You may need to see the vet for a med that will move it along.

Oh, and be sure to vacuum a lot. It will help both of you.
