Hi there my bun sunshine is 4 years old and she lives in my bedroom in this exercise pen http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produ…atid=14629 I currently use the mat it comes with for the top and the bottom. Being that rabbits love to chew she has chewed most of the bottom of the mat. I was wondering if it would be ok not to have a bottom? I also have a large carpet that goes under her cage I was wondering if I could just set the cage on this carpet. I know rabbits chew carpet it really doesn’t have threads that pop up? Thanks

One of my bunnies has a thing for cloth, and she would for sure tear up carpet if she had the chance.  My guys live in a condo, and the floors are either linoleum (first floor) or coroplast.  I put cheap cotton rugs over the coroplast so they have a warm place to hang out if they want.  They chew on these some but not excessively.  If you have one nearby, Ikea has great cheap throw rugs that you can use.

It completely depends on the buns. Mine have an area rug under their cage and they leave it completely alone. In the past I’ve used a vinyl table cloth protector (one with the felt backing, to be water proof and protect my floor) and they did tear that up occasionally, so it’s really up to the invidivual.

I second the advice for chloroplast or lino tiles (you can stick them to plywood) for a bunny that likes to destroy everything. You can put down some nice grass mats and fleece blankets to give traction.
