I have some veggies growing in some spots in my sunroom. I was wondering, do I just put the poopies in the pots? Do I have to crush it up before?

You can just put them in Water after applying-umn-fertilizer

Good grief, if I did that with Monkey, the pot would be overflowing with poopies! She’s a machine I tell ya! lol

lmao! I just threw some nice specimens out over the dandelion patch today. I forgot to water them though.
It’s right over where the well is. It’s the only green spot in the yard presently.

She might pee pee out of anger rather than poop

When I planted some new herbs, I put a layer of poopies in the middle area of the soil. I figure it will break down over time and provide nutrients. I plan to add some more to the top too.

Not sure if that’s a good technique, but we’ll see how it turns out.

She left some poops out of her litter box last night, so when I saw it this morning, I squeaked! I picked me up and put it in the plant and watered it a little bit. My dad thought it was gross

Lol. I pick up bunny poop all the time with my hands. Ewww. We’re using it in our garden and around our new shrubs. Hodari doesn’t know it, but she is doing her little share to help out around here.

bunny poop is about the only manure you can put straight into the garden without composting and it won’t burn the plants.

I just shake mine out of the litter boxes around the vegetable and water it in, breaks down gradually and boy does the garden love it!

I have a bjillion (actual number) wild rabbits in my yard.  I wonder what they would do if I start putting Alex and Rosie’s poops out there?  Poop and pee all over the place to claim “their” territory?  Then I’d get even more fertilizer!  But is bunny pee okay for plants?

Lagomorphic, I think you’re supposed to spread anything with pee out so the ammonia can burn off, then it’s ok.

I was thinking the wild rabbits would be peeing around my plants because they’d smell the poo of the “intruders” Alex and Rosie. But maybe it wouldn’t be that much pee and/or it’d burn off . . . ?

LOL That was my first thought and you beat me to it, Tate!!!!!!

I am tempted to plant something here and put all those Sammypoos in the soil to see if it helps. She has a LOT.

I doubt you’d be able to tell if the wild rabbits had marked, since it would dry up pretty quickly after marking.

Monkeybun, you should just collect poo and sell it off… If they each make as much as my Huckleberry does in one day, I bet you could have your buns paying your rent! lol

Good idea Huckleberry, I think the sanctuary in Dallas offers bags of it for sale…lol, and they have a LOT of bunnies!

I spread the poo/pee hay from the litter boxes in the garden for mulch. Some members will remember a post I had last year offering a big bag of poo on Craigslist as a bet and got over 50 requests…lol

Now I have a couple of ladies that call me when they want some and in return I get a bag of small weeping willow whips for the bunnies and their ‘efforts’

LOL thanks you all I laughed more and more reading the replies

So, how long am I supposed to keep the poops in the plants? It breaks down by itself?

Chacha is in my room, and tends to leave territoral poops near my clothes hamper, so I’m getting giddy when she leaves poops

I never knew how exciting rabbit poop could be

I just got me a BIIIIG bag of poos in the last 24 hours from my three…lolz…top that!

It’s sort of a yucky job but I try to take the poos off the top of the litter box because I don’t want Yesterday’s News in my garden. Stray cage poos go in the poo bucket which I dump in the yard or garden every couple of days.

Brit, for collecting poo I used a little shovel thing (trowel? what the heck are they called?) and scooped off what I could from the top. I got some hay in it, but hay is good too, so no biggie.

When we get a house I’m going to compost everything, WSP and all, so we’ll have tons of fertilizer!

I hadn’t thought of that. Can you imagine? I mean, in Alaska, you actually find ads in the paper asking for bags of moose droppings which become tourist trinkets (swizzle sticks with a varnished moose poop for a handle, funny gag coffee mugs that have a varnished poo at the bottom, etc.) and they PAY you about $45 per pound! I about died when I first saw classifieds like that.

But hey, yeah…someone a while back suggested bunny fertilizer businesses to pay rent. lol…they may as well earn their keep, right?

And…rofl…the idea of the ‘secret operations’ on webcam…omg…too funny!

He’ll also go dark if he eats only orchard grass and the fecals get smelly, which is why I’m glad to be taking them outdoors almost as soon as he drops them! 0_o

We are not afraid to pick up rabbit poops. They are pretty harmless. After all the presents my lizards have left me, I am not bothered.

You don’t NEED to compost the poo, but for me, it’s so easy to just dump the whole box into the compost bin… poos, Yesterday’s News, hay and all…

Yeah, the litter screen helps a lot for collecting poo. I imagine it would take a LOT of poo to be sellable, though. I read somewhere that buns can make 200-300 hard poos a day, but still… I only have one tiny bunny. I agree it would be nice if her poop could help pay for her veggies and toys. I just got her a lot of new toys and she’s going to need new ones again soon.

Chacha loves to mark her condo (no mommy allowed) and leaves poops here and there, so that is the one I’m using. I didn’t even fill up an entire bag, just a small amount.

Chacha bun LOVES cilantro. She makes a mess with it by dragging it off the plate, running off with it in her mouth, and leaving a few pieces on the carpet lol!

I’ve been toying with the idea of giving my buns’ to her, but she said in her post she actually dislikes rabbits, just wants their poo, so I don’t think I will. Maybe I should see if people on craigslist are looking, though.

Hopefully, it will make some good compost which is a wonderful soil amendment for the garden by summertime!

They are black, flying bugs. Gnats maybe? There is another one too that I’ve noticed, it’s also small, shiny black with a round body and two little wings that almost give it a very rounded heart shape. One or both are eating the leaves on my tomatoes and mint but leaving the parsley and banana peppers alone.

I actually have a couple too and they’re annoying! Here’s a little blog/article about how to get rid of them. Apparently overwatering is the key reason and watering less can get rid of them. However, mine came in when I bought basil and parsley plants and I only water them when they wilt, but I still get the flies. If I water those things any less they’ll fall over (the parsley already falls completely flat any really sunny day and I have to water it to perk it up again) There are a couple natural remedies, so I’ll have to try some.

Maybe you’re overwatering? Mold shouldn’t be able to grow if you let the soil try out throroughly between waterings. Mold can grow right on the regular soil too, so I don’t think the poo is necessarily the issue.
