Due to my work schedule, Zeus does not have a totally set schedule.  It’s not completely erratic, but his meal times and out of cage times are different depending on what day it is.  For example, one day breakfast might be at 7am, dinner at 6pm, late dinner at 10pm.  Other days breakfast is at 9am, dinner at 8pm, late dinner at 10:30pm.  He always has hay pellets and hay though, so he’s never without food.

I feel a bit bad I can’t offer him a set schedule, but he doesn’t seem to mind.  As long as he gets his out of cage time to rampage my apartment, gets his meals, and maybe a piece of pineapple here and there, he’s happy.

Mostly, yeah. I try to get their greens to them around 6 pm, sometimes it is a bit later if we have been out, or a bit earlier if we are PLANNING to go out lol. And pellets are right before we go to bed, which can vary from 1am to 4am sooo…. yeah. they are off a bit too

Becuase the boyfriend and I live the graveyard shift, Huckles lives that way too. Works great for her since she sleeps all day anyway haha. She gets fed when I get home from work and when I go to work. She is able to leave her room whenever I am home. She comes out and plays with us late at night when we are sitting around watching tv. I only work 3 nights, but I usually cant sleep on my nights off so she joins me in that.

                  It’s a yes and no…

For one they are ‘free-fed’ kibble and hay, so I top hay up twice a day-usually am and pm; and kibble gets topped up every second or third day as needed (they really eat very little kibble-13lbs of rabbit combined eating about two cups a week).

In the evening I dump water for fresh and put down veggies. But I’ll often put veggies in more then once a day-sort of like free feeding the veggies I guess. They’ll eat what they want and come back to it. They always have some veggies down-top up when needed.

Rupert is only getting treats now if he works for it-so in his ‘teach and treat’ if I’m lazy or for some targeting/spin/begging. Kahlua gets a couple treats when we work.

I like how it’s worked out as they don’t gobble down anything, but instead eat what they need when they need-it’s really worked out that they graze rather then bolt their food. Also I like it because if I’m out or come home later from work, they aren’t upset because there isn’t a ‘like clockwork’ schedule in effect.

Oh dear. Sounds like me. >.<  'Cept you're still up earlier than me…noon your time is 11 AM up here.

It’s hard to keep a schedule when your daylight/nightfall changes as drastically as it does every 6 months here in Alaska. It really affects the bunnies too. They are definitely more active now, and they get morose and cranky during winter…

                                    ….no wait…that’s me too. Well… the morose & cranky part anyway….

I used to be very punctual about our rising/going to bed because I wanted them to feel consistency and routine. But now I’m just all over the map. If I don’t get up in time to clean/feed in the AM, they start throwing things, so I couldn’t sleep through it if I wanted to. But the evening routine is usually a little more punctual. Mostly cause I really want to get as much sleep as possible before I have to get up and do it all again.

Hubby gets up much earlier than me (usually just as I’m finally passing out about 3-4 AM) so the buns don’t get much peace and quiet themselves. They have to grab their kip during the day.

My daughter is an insomniac and used to have her light on all night reading or drawing, so Pip could never rest around her…that’s why she came to live in my room with me. Until then they’d been real close and I’ve never felt right about separating them. Seems like Pip has had to give up some evening dark time with me anyway, because since my son went to college I haven’t slept a full night myself. 0_0

So yeah…not as much of a routine as I’d like, but we coexist pretty well. I don’t know what structure I’d have in my life (if any) if it weren’t for the buns.

Mine are pretty much on a set schedule. We feed them around 7am and 10pm every day. The only times that differs is if we go to a party with friends and either spend the night (in which case they get fed around 5pm when we leave, then whenever we return in the morning) or stay out late-ish (then they don’t get dinner until 11 or 12). It’s pretty consistent though, since we only do social things once every couple weeks, in general.

Definitely a set schedule – it helps me too and I like routines and so do my rabbits.

We have a pretty regular routine. The little booger wakes me up at 6:30 every morning, but usually plays somewhat quietly for another half hour before I actually get up. So, I let her out to play at 7:00 most mornings. I clean her cage and replenish her hay and water at that time. She plays in her room until 8:30 or 9:00 and then takes a nap in her cage. She eats her salad at 1:00. She runs around, binkies, and cuddles with me until 2:30 or 3:00, then she usually takes another nap. From 6 PM to 8 PM she does more running and jumping and other entertaining things, then eats the pellets and fresh hay I’ve given her. I clean up after her frequently throughout the day because it bugs me not to have her cage and room looking relatively neat. Bedtime is at 10PM most nights. She tosses things around in her cage until 10:30, though.

This, in a nutshell, is our day together.  We only get off schedule if I have an appointment with another human, or something.

Emily is very set on her schedule :/ it’s good and bad. Also I am reading this and notice most of you only give veggies once a day should I not give them twice a day?

7:00 am Pellets, greens, make sure she has hay — leave for work
12:00 pm check water, temp. and say hello (I would let her out but I cant catch her to get her back in her “room” in time for work) — lunch hour
5:00pm play time until 10:00-11:00pm she has free run of the house
10:00 greens a treat or two and clean water

If I don’t come home right after work she pouts and gets upset with me! Sometimes doesn’t even want to run around so I try to be home to spoil her!
This is our everyday routine mornings and evenings tend to vary but only a little because she throws a fit! on weekends or days off depending on how late I am up

Veggies twice a day is good.  You always want a rabbit’s gut to be working on something, and they’re much more likely to munch on veggies than hay.  I do veggies + pellets twice a day, with free feed hay.

I give veggies 2xday also, but that might vary slightly, especially in the evening if I am not home at the “usual” time. (5-5:30 dinnertime.) I would start breakfast with a slight change depending on the day of the week if SOMEONE let me, but a certain persistent chewing on the bars is enough to be awakened at 6AM, and then once I’m up there’s no going back. Sooooooo, she gets a run while I get a coffee. Then we meet back in her room for breakfast: pellets, fresh water and greens, more hay. I think sometimes she actually waits for me to join her before she starts chowing down.

Thank goodness for unlimited hay, though. I always know she has some food no matter what happens in my day to change my schedule.

He gets run time at 7pm every night as well or else lol

I feed my bunnies between 10am – 11am then again in the evening around 7 – 8pm. I am trying to be more consistent though for the webcam. Also, if they are hungry and I am running late, they will just stand by where their greens are — that doesn’t happen as much now that I have been feeding them later, but if I can get back on a stricter schedule of feeding at 9am and 7pm, then evening feeding they are ready to eat.

Also, Jack knows he gets his nightly mix of glucosamine and banana, and I cannot forget because he will go and just sit by the kitchen door and wait with a hopeful face that I cannot ignore.

no real schedule here. they get unlimited pellets, and i just top off their bowls whenever i see they need it. for puppet that’s usually once a day, rue can go two or three days without emptying his bowl. same with hay, i add more when they need it. puppet eats like a horse, so i fill his up much more often. playtime also varies. they take turns coming out, but they have to be caged when we’re not home. on a busy day, that means we may be out of the house all morning, so both are cage, then they have to split the afternoon. it may also mean their play time is broken up, if we are in and out a lot.

Pellet feeding is on a schedule for me. I usually give it to them in the evening. If I’m late, Panko helpfully reminds me that I am by clanging their food dish on the floor. Greens feeding can vary, depending on if I’m in a rush to get to class or not. I usually give it to them before class though in the morning.

I am looking forward to the midnight sun baseball game….is that still going on?  My family has some really thick thick blinds that help keep the light out.  They are like super blinds!

we got it down to an art during the week. I get up between 6-7am, let them out of the cage and go over and give them their 1/4 c pellets and 1 cup cheerios, open the curtains for light, go get ready for work while they’re eating…occasional pets and rubs as i’m getting ready. Love session for about 2 minutes, then off to work. Get home around 5-6pm, they come running. another love session for about 10 min while i’m checking my email. around 7pm, i go and start my dinner while they sit patiently waiting on the floor next to the kitchen watching. THen they get romaine, parsley or cilantrol, fresh water and carrots. Then around 9 or 10 they get a treat (like a piece of banana), ANOTHER love session (usually pretty flat bunnies sprawled out in the middle of the living room floor). I go brush my teeth/shower/get ready for bed, then I say “time for bed guys” and of course (as expected), oliver goes into the cage, meg and I play chase for another 5 minutes, until I corner her under the couch and poke her with my door stopper sticl, then she binkies into the cage Hay goes in, pats on the head, goodnight and then oliver (without missing a beat), gives my hand kisses and it’s off to bed

Feeding times for Ellesbietka are set on a schedule. Morning is pellets, evening is hay and veggies/fruits.

Play time and outside time are variable, though. I like mixing it up and making it something different from the day before to create a new, positive experience (she was severely neglected and had some major trust issues when I got her).

@Helenor … I got the thumping litter box treatment this morning because Mimzy’s water bottle had run out before I got up. Better than an alarm clock!
Fiver will sometimes let me know he needs new bedding (due to smushy poos) by ringing his little cat toy ball. I don’t know how he figured out that it gets my attention, but if I forget to put it back in with him after I’m done with morning clean up, I come back to a messy bunny bed.

@BB … I think the Gold Panners are playing this year. There was some scuttlebut last year that they wouldn’t have money for it next season. Not sure. I don’t really go to the games myself. And we have our own football team now (indoor only of course) and it seems like they play well… but I just have to wonder WHY the uniforms are blue stripes on BRIGHT ORANGE SPANDEX? 0_o
I was so looking forward to my son getting into some sport while at UAF, but it’s impossible to get him out of his dorm room. He does fence, but I never got to see any of his tournaments.

We’ve lived in this moth-eaten money pit now for 16 years with only fabric tacked up as curtains. Disgusting but true. Hubby puts visquine up during winter to keep the drafts out. The windows are all strange widths and lengths, so we never had the money to get form fitted shades. I’ve seen the ones you’re talking about. Anybody with sense has them…lolz…just not us.
We’re going to have to tear the windows out this year and put in ones with metal or plastic frames though, because the wood is getting moldy. Hopefully we’ll get little circulating fans to keep the condensation off them this winter too.
*sigh* With all the things that go wrong with this place…sometimes I wish we DID live in igloos…home improvement every year…lol.

May I tell my tale of rabbitude?

I had to work until 11 pm on Friday or was it Saturday? I give Chacha her veggies at 9:30 and I wasn’t home at the time. My dad and his girlfriend were at the apartment. My dad came to pick me up from work, and he immediately told me that Koucha was on the single chair, staring at him..!!!! He said she did not get off the couch!

When I got home, she saw me and jumped off. I gave her a dried asian pear slice and she took off with it in her mouth, footflicking at me like a mad woman!

I have all my animals on a pretty strict schedule. My bf often gets annoyed with me and says “they’re not newborn babies”! Their supper in the evening varies sometimes by an hour or so, depending on if I’m out or not. I like to keep a schedule with my buns and cats because one of my cats is on 12 hour meds so I just feed them all at the same time.

And the bunnies know the schedule very well. Sunday is my only day to sleep in (normally they eat at 7 o’clock) and it’s very rare that they let me sleep in past 7:30. Bindi is the chief alarm clock guy…he will make noise until I get up.

Again, the loppies are SO similar in behaviour! lolz….Mimzy is the chief noisemaker when it is time for the bunny slave to get up and get busy!

I think the main reason I stay on a schedule with the buns is that I have my own medication to take at certain times, and so if I need to medicate the bunnies or cats or whomever, I have to keep that schedule because otherwise I forget altogether. I have a lousy memory.

Going to have to step up my mornings though…sun is rising earlier and it’s getting wicked hot outdoors in the afternoons and evenings. I don’t like having to feel overheated while I’m managing bunnies. I’m sure they’ll have no problem with it…lol.

That’s funny that Mimzy is your noise maker! There have been a few times during the week where my clock didn’t go off and I was saved by the Bindi!!

I’m a very obsessive person and I like to be on a schedule. I sort of like to have the whole day planned out before I start it.
