Picked up Bindi from the vet at 5:00 (I will post more details later in the thread about his molar spurs). They said he nibbled a bit of hay but didn’t want any veggies this afternoon. He had pellets and a crock full of veggies before he went in around 7:30 a.m.. It’s now 6:30 p.m. I’ve offered him some pellets mushed up with water and grated carrot and a crock of leafy veggies. He came to the door for supper time but didn’t want any and went back to bed.

Just wondering how long do I let him go without eating? I really want to avoid force-feeding him Critical Care unless I absolutely have to. He’s had quite a few normal poos since he got home.

What time was his procedure and did she do pain meds for the procedure?

I’m not sure about the procedure time. I think they do surgeries in the late morning. I got a call at 1:00 that he was awake and doing good. He did get Metacam today and she sent him home with some for the next 3 days, once a day.

He just ate two small pieces of banana…too bad I can’t give him a lot of that.

You might try before you go to bed to syringe feed him a bit – hopefully tomorrow morning he will be alert and ready to eat.

Ah poor little guy. I’ve found that Huckles perks up about 20 min after her meds, maybe he will be feeling better after they kick in! His teeth might be feeling funny so he may not want to chew. I wonder if you can get him to lap up the Critical Care, maybe if you mixed it with some banana or something… I always hate force feeding, hopefully Bindi gets better fast!!!!

I understand the not wanting to overdo the banana. Bindi doesn’t need any excess sugar with his ear issues. BTW, how did that cleaning go? Were they able to tell what might be bothering his ears?
I often find that Mimz is pretty overdone for the first day or so after his trimming. I usually put out some prepared Crit Care for him in a bowl, which I will syringe in if he looks particularly peaked, but he likes his greens late the first night and usually is eating his hay by the next day.
I don’t recall you saying so but, has he ever had one of these before? Or any surgery? I think Mimzy’s 1st dental was a bit rough for him, but they’ve gotten better each time as far as initial recovery goes.

This was first dental. And his ears were flushed out really good and no infection! I’m going to write more about his teeth in my other thread.
